Obituary of Helen Patricia Cratt
CRATT, Helen Patricia (Walsh), passed away peacefully at Niagara Falls Hospital, with her children at her side, at the age of 87. Beloved wife of Lynn Cratt (2006), for 48 years. Loving and proud mother of Patti (Alan), Maureen (Scott), and Gary (Gail). Predeceased by her son Brian (2001), her parents, Frank Walsh and Elena Walsh, her brothers James, Bill, and John, and her sisters Flora, Margaret, and Mary. Loving grandmother to Kate (Robert), Mark, Michael, Elizabeth (Mitch), Kevin (Emily), Caroline, Joclyn, Taylor, Sara, Marianne (2014). Loving great grandmother to Giancarlo, Ella, Alexander and Abby. Beloved sister to Leo Walsh (Sharon), Clara Phillips (James), Anne Primeau, Fred Walsh (Gretchen), Teresa Ferland, Sheila Voisin (Michael). Sister-in-law to Larry Cratt, Shirley Knowles, Sally Schoonmaker, Sharon Griffis (James), Leighton Cratt (Norma), Lee Cratt (Wendy). Aunt Helen to many nieces and nephews. Frank and Elena's legacy continues to grow.
Helen grew up with her twelve siblings in their family farm homestead on Lakeshore Road. Helen was a proud nurse graduate from St. Joseph's Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario. Helen and Lynn worked together as the owners of the Esso Sales Agency, Lynn F. Cratt Ltd, for 26 years, in the Niagara Region. Many wonderful years were spent at their Read Road home raising four children, and enjoying cherished moments with grandchildren and family in their backyard pool. Helen took great joy working in their beautiful flower gardens. Helen moved to her lovely condo at Stone Road Village, and her many wonderful friends there became her extended family. Her zest for life included golf, badminton, playing cards and scrabble, and cherished times with her Sewing Group. Mom was always someone to count on to lend a hand, to organize events, and to share a moment.
We would like to thank Nicole Smith NP, Palliative Care, NFGH, for her care and support. Special thanks to the nurses of Unit D, and especially Pam.
A Mass of celebration will be held in the Spring for family and friends. Memorial donations would be appreciated by the family to Hospice Niagara, 403 Ontario Street #2, St. Catharines, Ontario, L2N 1L5. www.hospiceniagara.ca
