Obituary of Mary Viscek
It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Marija “Mary” Viscek, in her 89th year, on January 23rd 2024 on a calm, quiet winter evening. Mary peacefully slipped into the hands of the Lord with her loving family by her side.
Beloved wife of Lado (d.2008) of 50 years. Loving mother to Lado Jr. (Linda) and Kathy. Cherished Grandma to Jennifer (Brandon), Charlene (Phillipe), and John (Katherine). Great-Grandma to Lincoln, Londyn and Remy. Predeceased by her parents Janez and Marija Zeleznik; brothers Tone, Franc and sister Toncka, brother-in-law Josef Viscek and great-niece Stefanie Viscek.
Mary will be missed by her sister-in-law Marinka Viscek and nephews Joe Viscek Jr., Frank Viscek (Denise), Great-nephews Joey (Melissa) and Michael (Carly) and Great-nieces Nicole and Vanessa.
A dedicated member of Lipa Park and St. Mary of the Assumption Parish.
Mary will be missed by the Third Street gang and many other friends. She earned a seamstress trade in Slovenia. She was quick-witted. In her younger years, she was the life of the party; in her later years, Master of Word Search Puzzles.
Mary’s family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Sunday, January 28th, 2024 from 3-7 pm with vigil prayers recited at 6:45 pm. Funeral liturgy will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Assumption Parish, 169 St. Paul Crescent, St. Catharines on Tuesday, January 30th, 2024 at 11:00 am. Rite of Committal will be held at Victoria Lawn Cemetery to follow.
