Obituary of Shirley Anne Vaccaro
It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Shirley Anne Vaccaro (nee Evans) on Sunday, March 3rd 2024 in her 89th year after her lengthy illness with Alzheimer’s at the NHS- St. Catharines with family at her side. Cherished and devoted wife of 63 years to George Vaccaro; doting mother to Cathy (Mark Heagle) Vaccaro; Penny (Doug) Rye and David (Rosemary) Vaccaro; loving grandmother to Jordan, Emily, Laura, Daniel and Steven and proud great-grandmother; sister to Susan (Helmut) Weier and Fred (Judy) Evans and many nieces, nephews and extended family to miss Shirley.
Shirley will be remembered for her baking skills, talented seamstress work, accomplished nursing career and donating her time and efforts to the hospital auxiliary. Family was most important to her; Shirley took pride in raising her children and managing the household chores with much love and efficiency.
In keeping with the family’s wishes, funeral arrangements have been entrusted with the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines. A private funeral ceremony will be held in memory of Shirley. Please consider making donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada in honour of Shirley.
