Obituary of Eleanor Marie Lewis
With great sorrow, her “girls” announce the passing of Eleanor Marie Lewis (nee Smith) at Niagara Health - St. Catharines on March 13, 2024, with her daughter by her side.
Predeceased by her beloved husband William (Billy) of 52 years, they are together once again.
A devoted mother and friend to Linda Ada Lewis. Most loved Drama to her only granddaughter Mackenzie A.V. Lewis.
Eleanor held many positions throughout her work life, and was most proud of her volunteer activities be they political, running many a campaign office, or charity related. Eleanor spent many years with the Girl Guides, from leading a group at St. Columba Church to being a District Commissioner for the Niagara Region. Together with “her” Billy, she was an antique and GM car enthusiast, being a member of the Antique and Classic Car Club of Canada and their first female National President for many years. She was an active member of St. John's Anglican Church in Thorold.
Eleanor will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her many dear friends.
Eleanor’s girls will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Sunday, March 17 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm, and at the church for one hour prior to the service on Monday, March 18. A Funeral Service to celebrate Eleanor’s life will take place on Monday, March 18 at St. John's Anglican Church, 12 Carleton Street South, Thorold at 11am with the Rev. Canon Katherine Morgan presiding. Burial to follow in Victoria Lawn Cemetery. In keeping with Eleanor’s wishes and in lieu of flowers, the donation of non perishable food items and paper products or memorial donations to The Salvation Army Family Services or to St. John's Anglican Church-Thorold would be appreciated by the family
