Dear Susie, Barb, Jody & Family:
Bob was a wonderful man who could see “the forest for the trees” and that is one of the reasons Brock Athletics has excelled and grown and made a name for itself in Canadian University Athletics. He is an icon to me and will ever be so for the department.
I will miss his frequent visits to my office and our conversations about sports, events, people and everything Brock. I will certainly miss those one liners and his grin as he went out the door.
Please accept my condolences and know that he left a strong impression on, not only me, but many, many others at Brock and in the community.
Rest easy Bob & Go Badgers!
Very Sincerely,
Sandie Huffman

Coach Bob had a lasting effect on the life paths of many young men and women at Luther College. I will always remember the evening when he gathered all us Grade Nine dorm rats in the gymnasium. He went over the rules for living in the dormitory and then gave us the Coach Bob look and said: "Know the rules. Ignorance is no excuse!" Coach Bob was a highly respected leader during his time at Luther. He will be fondly remembered.
My condolences to his family.

I am saddened to hear about the passing of Bob (I have always called him Mr. Davis). He was such a kind and gentle soul and I had the privilege of serving him over the years at the pharmacy. He was cheerful even when times were not the best and always showed a heart of gratitude. Just reading about his accomplishments makes me appreciate his humility even more. I will miss him. I would like to offer my sincere condolences to the family.

I remember Prof. Davis as a man of integrity and an excellent educator. I couldn’t wait to get to the lecture hall for anatomy class under his teaching. Everyone; staff and students alike respected him! Why wouldn’t we; he was always fair!
He was a personal support to me as a student and athlete throughout my years at Brock. I recall him cheering me on at competitions, and a great memory was when he and Mrs. Davis joined Al (coach) and Geri Pedler, and our track team on a trip to England for competitions in 1975.
Most notable was that he was a passionate builder-leader. In the early years of the Physical Education program, he built an faculty of dynamite educators, added varsity teams and exceptional athletes to their rosters, and understood the value of developing a caring community of students, staff and athletes of which I was honored to be a part. He leaves a legacy and many warm memories.
Sending condolences to all the Davis family.

To me, Bob Davis and racquetball are synonymous. I remember meeting Bob when I followed the Brock Badgers hockey team one year in the late 1970's. Along with 2 or 3 other teachers, we attended the games on Thursday nights, then headed across the street to The Blue Line Club, Met Bob, Arnie, Lorne, Wayne as well as a few of the hockey players (who actually practice taught at my school that year.) Shortly thereafter I started playing racquetball @ Brock with a friend on Thursdays @ 7:00. There was only one court for racquetball but 4 squash courts. I used to "bug" Bob about extra courts for my favourite game. HIs response was always "after the pool is built". Well, the pool got built...but, by then, I wasn't playing as often so he 'was off the hook with me'. There was a time when I played a game with him and Arnie. He was a good guy of whom I have positive memories. My condolences to the family.

Bob was a great support to Arnie during their time together at Brock and continued to support both of us when we had health issues later in life. He called or came to visit regularly and we looked forward to seeing him and to sharing news of mutual friends.
He played the game of life in the way that he’d played every game: he played against the odds, if necessary, and he played to win.
My sincere condolences to Susie and his loving family in their loss.

Our family would like to offer our deepest condolences to Susie, Barbie, Jody and families. My cousin Bob was always the “older cousin” at Gramma and Grampa Butler’s family Sunday dinners and at summers in Regina Beach that we always looked up to as he excelled and loved all sports in his early youth. His athleticism and enthusiasm for sports continued throughout his career and life. He was an inspiration of what a true athlete could accomplish academically to help further promote sports. Bob was a true gentleman and a very interesting story teller. He accomplished so much in his lifetime that you must all be proud of as all the Butler family is.

Upon joining Brock University as their Purchasing Agent Bob asked if I would take responsibilty temporarily for the Track and Field/Cross Country Teams until they hired a new Coach since I had competed for the Hamilton Olympic Club. Twenty three years later I still had the responsibility. Both Bob and Sue travelled with the team to Meets in England and California and were genuinely supportive to each and every athlete.
Bob was an exceptional Athletic Director and respected by his many Colleagues at Brock and throughout Canada.
Both Bob and Sue supported all Brock activities and he wil be sorely missed.
Great memories for all of us.

I was very sorry to learn of Bob’s passing. I have many fond memories of my interactions with Bob during my years at Brock. Whether they be reviewing the insertion points of muscles on skeletons using masking tape (it was early days) or simply talking with him in his office or the common areas. I managed to see Bob off and on over the years post-graduation as my parents lived near him for a time. Whenever I would run into him he always had time to chat and always remembered my time on the hill. All Brock Physical Education grads carry a little bit of Bob with them, ensuring he will never be forgotten.

My childhood is filled with memories of Bob. The OG Brock gang would meet regularly for Bridge nights at our house. My little brother and I would stay up late to eavesdrop on the boozy conversations and fun. Yes, Susie had the loudest laugh, but Bob's is the one I remember most.
My entire family and I watched from the sidelines (literally) as Bob's passion and drive helped grow a young university's athletics and varsity programs into something special. What a legacy.
I am saddened to hear of Bob's passing and send my condolences to Susie, Barb, Jody and families.

I am saddened to hear of Bob’s passing. I had enjoyed many fun nights in January, February & into March with Bob & Susie, cheering on our beloved Badgers - basketball & volleyball together in The Bob Davis Gymnasium- lovingly known as “The Bob” … & loved & respected he was !!!
Bob was my favourite prof & my boss as he hired me for Brock Sports School - the best training ground to be a coach & PE teacher you could ever have.
I am lucky to have met Bob often on his walks & stayed in touch through all these years. What a gentleman & a caring man! He listened & gave great advice to so many of us through the years.
Thanks Bob for being the man Brock needed to build our fantastic Brock sports program. MR BROCK you will always be!
Bravo Bob & thank you! RIP

My sincere condolences to the entire Davis family on learning of Bob’s passing. He was one of the first Faculty members I met when I arrived at Brock in 1974. Bob was always friendly, easy to talk with and always interested in how your university life was going. I enjoyed greatly the interactions with Bob through university hockey, golf and just about every sport at Brock. We continued to meet throughout the years after Brock at university hockey games and golf outings. He was a true gentleman and Mr. Brock. He will be sorrowly missed by anyone/everyone that had the pleasure of meeting him in their life.

Bob had a huge impact on my life. My favourite prof in the P.E. Program at Brock U. Would play pick up basketball at lunch with Bob in the 1970's and I had the privilege of working under Bob's direction for four summers at the Brock Sports School. He was a great inspirational leader and was my role model for my later life in a career in Education. Appreciative of all he did for me.

I am so shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Bob. I had just run into him about a month ago at the university during OU swimming as he was there watching a Badger basketball game. Over the years, Bob was always so kind to my whole family. I thoroughly enjoyed the long talk we recently had at my father's funeral and it was amazing how much he remembered about the days when he helped to build the Athletic's Centre into what it has become today. He was an amazing man that will be greatly missed. The de Bray family sends thoughts of love, peace and strength to the Davis family in this very difficult time.
Take care,

Ben. I was saddened to hear of your dad's death. When I was an undergrad at Brock, he was getting the swimming program off the ground. I walked by a bulletin board one day and saw a sign that read "Divers wanted. No experience necessary." Imagine! Your dad was bold enough to take me on as a diver, even though I had never participated in the sport. I believe I go on record as the worst varsity athlete in Brock's history. But your dad taught me a lot and his encouragement meant a lot to me. RIP.
