Obituary of Johanna Geertruida Maria Rockx

Joanne Rockx November 1st, 1923 - March 30th, 2024

Rockx, Johanna Geertruida Maria (van Mil)

Joanne died peacefully and returned to her heavenly home on Saturday, March 30th, 2024.  Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her throughout her life and especially in these last few months in hospital and her last home, Chippawa Creek at Bella Manor.

She leaves behind her loving children, Ron (Karen), Annette (Brian) Brennan, Richard (Lisa) and Michael (Sandra).  She was a devoted Oma to all of her 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.  Joanne was predeceased by her husband, Jack, to whom she had been married for 60 years, as well as her parents, 4 brothers and 6 sisters.

The family extends sincere thanks to staff at Bella Manor, the health care teams at both Niagara Health hospitals and everyone at Mount Carmel Retirement Home, where mom lived for several years. Everyone was so supportive and loving to our mom-we cannot thank you all enough.

Joanne’s family invite friends to join them at the George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Thursday, April 11th from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 12th at St. Denis Catholic Church, 230 Lake Street, St. Catharines at 11 am.  Rite of Committal to follow in Victoria Lawn Cemetery.  If desired, memorial donations can be made to the Niagara Warehouse of Hope or Covenant House Toronto and would be very much appreciated.
