it was such a shock when I discovered this obituary of a friend from long ago. I have many fond memories of our time together, before Joe entered Myriam's life. We remained friends and Myriam even sent a wedding present to Diana and I a few years later.
Myriam's name popped up from time to time in the past 30 years...once when someone from St Catharines mentioned her name and it was then that we read of her wonderful work with Meals on Wheels. Yesterday I heard a song on the radio that brought back memories of good times with Myriam...and so I thought I'd Google her name to find what further wonderful things she had been up to...
What a shock...and I have not been the same since.
My heartfelt condolences to Joe and Lea ... Perhaps time has mended some of the hurt, and I hope my note today does not stir up negative thoughts, but reinforces those positive memories of a woman always happy and fun-loving...even in her early 20's when I knew her.
Also my heart goes to Maria and Mylena...perhaps they remember the fun times we had back in the 70's...And can smile at the memories.
Goodbye Myriam...so sorry I couldn't have been there to say it personally...

A beautiful cheerful Lady
It is with great sadness that I learnt that Myriam has left our world.
Although we are all connected and somehow will meet again, I was looking forward to being her friend on earth for many years. I was praying that she could defeat that horrible and mysterious disease.
I miss her cheerfulness and good hearted nature. She was my roommate back when we both were Brock Students. Once in a while she would ask me for help with French since like her mother I am also from France.
I do believe that L©a is indeed a special young girl and an old soul and I wish that somehow she can be at peace and still feel her mother's love over her. I wish for Joe all the strength and acceptance to deal with this unfair reality. I also wish for him to feel his wife's love from above. I am sure with his friend's help, things will be a little bit easier somehow.
Myriam is in my heart forever as a good friend.
Au revoir Myriam, au revoir mon amie,
Jean-Michel

It was with an indescribable sadness that I learned of Myriam's recent passing. My thoughts and prayers are with Lea and Joe and Myriam's sisters, Maria and Mylene. I shall never forget Myriam's bright sparkling eyes, her great sense of humour, and her million dollar smile! In everything she did, in all of her pursuits, and on every journey she embarked, Myriam brought boundless energy and infinite passion. Myriam's "joie de vivre" was contagious and made those she touched feel better about themselves and their lives. What a gift she had in her ability to raise up those around her! The world is certainly less bright today than it was when Myriam was here to share her radiant love and warmth with all. May the comfort of such memories sustain and nurture you, Lea and Joe, in this time of loss and grieving. Know that Myriam is now keeping watch from above and that she will live forever in your hearts. God bless!

Dear Joe and Leah,
Can't tell you how saddened we are to hear that Myriam lost her fight with Cancer.
As you know I worked for Myriam as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for the past eleven years and she made this a very pleasant time for me. We had a lot of laughs together and she could get me to do anything for her. When she was in Arizona we frequently had contact by email and one time by telephone and I shall keep those letters from her.
She was the one who made Meals on wheels a success and was much appreciated by most of the volunteers and her clients.I was quite upset when some of these people created all these problems for her that she felt she had to step down and I made sure that these people have heard from me about it. I even considered quitting myself but knew she would not want me to do this, so I shall continue working as a volunteer on her behalf.
I know Joe and Leah there is not much I can say to give you comfort for your great loss just that we also feel this as well.
Sincerely,
Hank and Marie Makkreel

Dear Mr. Formicuccia & Lea - my son is a student at Mother Teresa and I have read the story of Myriam and her fight against cancer. May you both find peace in the memories that you keep close to your hearts and the comfort you give to one another. Lea - I too lost my mother at a very young age to a battle against cancer and while life may seem very unfair right now - close your eyes and your mom with be with you always. My sincerest sympathy to you both and your family. Keeping you in our prayers. Sincerely, Nicole Coffer (mom to Braeden Comba, Mother Teresa Elementary School).

Please accept our heartfelt sympathy for your loss. Myriam was a wonderful friend. Our paths crossed during high school where we attended O'Neill Collegiate. We were a group of friends that maintained "those ties that bind" during those exciting and somewhat challenging teenage years. She always had such a vibrant personality and always exuded confidence beyond her years. It is not surprising to me that she embarked on such a rewarding career. It was Myriam's nature--loyal and steadfast to the end. My only regret is that after graduation we went our separate ways. It brings me great comfort to know that she had such a loving family in Joe and Lea and her extended family. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you at this extremely difficult time. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
With deepest sympathy,

Dear Joe and Lea, even though it was in September of 1980, I clearly remember meeting Myriam for the first time - a beautiful person with a dazzling smile and sparkling eyes. She may have seen me but she only had eyes for Joe. I quickly had the opportunity to experience her kindness, friendship and determination. She immediately adopted Joe's friends (the boys) as her own and we are all grateful for that. She was a positive influence in our lives. It was with tremendous joy that we were introduced to you, Lea. We send you our love and are keeping you in our prayers. Love from Natalie, Jean-Luc, Karin & Rh©al

Dear Joe and Lea: I was devastated to hear late today that Myriam had lost her valiant fight against that horrible disease. She has been on my mind a great deal lately and, just this morning, I sent her an e-mail. It has been almost a year since Leslie (from Port Colborne) and I were with her for a lovely lunch and afternoon of fun, food, laughter, fellowship and a little gossip. She was loved and respected as my colleague but much more than that, she was a treasured friend. I pray that you will find great peace and comfort in knowing how much she was loved. She gave her heart and soul to her job, her community, her friends and mostly to the two of you. I will keep you both in my prayers and promise I will never forget our precious Myriam. God bless you all.
