My mum is Gordon’s cousin Tricia. I remember Gordon and Doreen visiting us in Scotland when I was a little girl. It must have been one of the rare warm days that we have and we were filling my paddling pool in the back garden with the hose. The hose stopped working and I turned the hose round to see what had happened only for Gordon to turn the hose back on in my face. When I looked at the kitchen window there was much hilarity from the adults inside as my reaction was one they wished they had caught on camera.
Sending lots of love to the family following the loss of a wonderful man. xXx

From being just a young girl, I remember the kindness and laughter you brought to every encounter. The friendship that Gord and Doreen shared with my mum and dad and, in turn, myself, is very cherished. Gord, you spread light and joy wherever you went. There are countless people who have been made better just for knowing you.
May love help heal the hearts of those you have left behind.
Love to Doreen, Linda, Rudy, Katherine and Michael.
Love the Shafir family. ❤️

We had such fun when Gordon and Doreen visited us for our wedding and travelled to meet us on our Ullapool honeymoon. Along with Linda they were amazing hosts when we stayed with them while visiting from Scotland- taking us to lots of lovely places we will never forget. Love and prayers to all the family from Ann, Wully, Kirsteen and all our family xx

So very sorry to hear of the passing of, what I believe is one of the last of one of our long time neighbors on Oriole Dr. A lovely obituary where I learned so much more about Gord never realizing we had much in common! Went to the same schools, also lived in Port Dalhousie, worked at GM, & of course our Oriole Dr. connection. Condolences to you Doreen, Linda & Rudy and Family.
R.I.P. Gord,
Annette Kent-Bergen (Sauriol)

I came into your family
Not knowing what I'd find
I was nervous and afraid
You gently eased my mind
You made me feel right at home
From the first day that we had met
You welcomed me with open arms
And that I will not forget
You always had encouraged me
With kind words that you say
I knew I could depend on you
On any given day
You were a great father-in-law
You stood above the rest
I thank God for blessing me
With you the very best
Deep in my heart you will always stay
Love and missed everyday

My heart goes out to Doreen, Linda and family.
I worked with Gord for several years at the St. Catharines Museum and enjoyed our time together. We shared a love of local history and travel to unusual places, sports and soapstone too. He was one of our most 'decent docents', and a Good Man in all senses of the word.
Thinking of you Doreen, and of Gord released now on his final journey. Fair winds and following seas, my friend!
