Obituary of Lorene Alicia Dick
Lorene (Lore) Alicia Dick 1954-2024
It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Lore, with her loving family by her side, on Thursday April 25, 2024 at NHS- St. Catharines. Predeceased by her parents, Bill (1991) and Joan (2024) and brother Jerry (2015). Lore will be sorely missed by her partner and best friend Sue Morrison, her brother, Kevin (Nancy) and sister-in-law Karen Dick. Special aunt to Ashley, Connor, Dennis, Kelly, Kelsey, Kristie and their families. She will be missed by her Aunt Trish Nicol and her family, the Howards and the Dick families. Lore will be remembered affectionately by her Morrison family.
Lore was proud to be a "Port" girl. She attended St. John's Anglican Church. Lore grew up playing several sports, some competitively, including lacrosse, baseball, skiing, rowing, golfing, squash and racquetball. This is where she made many long-time friendships. Her proudest moment was carrying the Olympic Torch for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics through Fonthill. She was an avid fan of the Montreal Canadiens, Miami Dolphins and Toronto Blue Jays.
Lore appreciated the need for volunteering in the community. She was a lifetime member of the Henley Island Helpers and served as President and a Director. Volunteering for the Out of the Cold breakfast program at St. George's Church was also very important to her. She participated for several years in the Rankin Cancer Run. Lore loved to share her culinary skills with family and friends. The Food Channel was her favourite. Professionally Lore loved her work as a chiropractic clinician with Dr. Gerry Nazar and Dr. Enrico Schirru. She cared about every patient and they became friends.
Many thanks for the love and support of neighbours and Lore's many friends. We will all miss her kindness, her wit and her vast knowledge. She will live on in our hearts through many cherished memories. She was a very special person! Great appreciation for her doctors and all home care workers who helped make each day special.
As per Lore's request, cremation has taken place. Donations in her memory can be made to Rankin Cancer Run, the Community Breakfast Program at St George's Church (by cheque), or a charity of your choice.
Lore's family will welcome friends at a drop in visitation to share their memories at the George Darte Funeral Home on Sunday May 26, from 1-4 pm.
