To Laurie's family, my deepest condolences to all of you. I worked with Laurie at GM. We had a nice friendship working together in the Gilman room. I'm sure I don't have to tell you what a wonderful, kind, caring, loving and absolutely hilarious Laurie was. She was always ready with some good advice if asked which always had some humor in it. I'm sad we didn't keep in touch other on facebook once in a blue mood. The last I heard Laurie had gotten her license and this was I'm guessing 10 years ago or more. That just showed her determination. I think that Laurie was one of those people you never forget because of her uniqueness. May she rest in peace

David, Terry, Melanie, and my dear, lifelong friend Rachel,
My deepest condolences for you loss. I'm sorry that I can't be there with you this week to share in your sorrow.
Laurie an exceptionally warm and caring person who truly had an impact on my life. And when I look back, I can't even remember her not being a part of it. Some of my earliest memories are of our visits, with coffees and cigarettes. Campgrounds, and Clancys, and racetracks and bingo halls. I even remember sitting in the back seat when she went to apply for her job at GM.
I remember the various homes you had and how I always felt welcome there. She really could draw you in and I truly felt like I was part of her family.
I have so many memories of our families together, of our mothers talking for hours, of us sneaking into Laurie's bedroom to use her makeup when she was on afternoons. I loved all her creams and potions and lipstick. I still watch the top of my tea for bubbles to see how rich I'll be when I grow up. Aside from all that, I will miss her laugh the most.
She was a wonderful friend to my mother--they relied on each other in their hardest times. And they brought us, their children together, giving us the gift of lifelong friendship that they knew in one other.
Laurie was a wonderful storyteller--so much so that stories she shared felt like stories and memories of your own life. This trait is something that lives on in each of you, her children, and I'm sure in her beloved grandchildren too.
She was beautiful and warm and loving and loyal. I'm sure it hurts to see her go. It was just like Laurie to never give up. Determined and strong, defying the odds...A tough old broad, she'd say. She fought so hard and in the very end it was peaceful. She is at rest now., and she is forever loved.
One of her favourite songs has a line I thought of right away when I heard she had left us...she is an angel now, as she was always destined to be:
"And He'll call me someday, to my home far away, where His glory forever I'll share."
Love to you all! Bye Laurie
