Obituary of Michele Susan Badeau
Thank you!
The Badeau / Youmans / Parent family is deeply grateful for the assistance of those that helped us through our mother’s end of life care and comfort. We are grateful to have the incredible support of the health care team in the Niagara region. So many of you went above and beyond what is necessary to perform your jobs. Your kindness and compassion made one of the most difficult times in our lives bearable, and there is no way to adequately express with words how thankful we are. You made it so we didn’t have to go through this process alone and walked with us every step of the way. There are more excellent health care givers than we can call out, but there are some that were instrumental in our journey that we would like to personally thank:
To the Walker Family Cancer Center:
Bronwen, NP – you were our pillar of strength. You kept us grounded and positive. Your kind words and incredible support had an impact far beyond what we can express.
Dr. Conen – you were our trusted guide. You immediately developed a report with our mom and family that put her at ease and made this less scary.
Dr. Bisson – You made an excellent plan of care in a very difficult situation. Your follow-up and support for anything and everything we needed was such a relief in an urgent situation.
Dr. Ishkanian – Your ability to break down complicated medical information into a way that could be understood and processed was a gift.
Marti, RN – For making us feel like a priority and helping us navigate and coordinate through this complicated process. For making sure we had whatever we needed as soon as possible and following through with promises.
Terry, Palliative Counseling - for your excellent support to our mother’s primary care giver. We are all so grateful for your excellent advice, and for helping her find the strength to get through this process.
And a special thanks to the rest of the fantastic staff and volunteers. We were treated like family and made welcome and comfortable. We thank you.
To Home and Community Care Support Services:
Darla, Case Manager - For your long-time support and continuing care of our parents. For taking on as much as you could while navigating the streams of community and palliative care and merging our complicated care plan into a path that we could walk down easier. We recognize the amount of effort that you put into making this so much easier and bearable.
Stacey, Case Manager– You were made for this job and for navigating the human complexities that come with end-of-life care. We are so grateful you stuck with us in the face of adversity.
Johanna, NP – For your patience and knowledge, always knowing the right questions to ask to get us the supports we needed.
Juby, RN – For going over and above, to make sure we had what we needed and for making our mom feel safe and well cared for. You helped us help her. You made a huge impression up until her last moments. Your ability to assess quickly, interpret needs accurately, and provide outstanding care to the patients and caregivers on your watch is inspiring.
Michele, PSW – Your incredibly kind and caring heart, and your foot rubs made you a superhero.
Carlton Medical Center and Remedy RX:
Dr. Alzaragh - For your excellent care through this long process, every step of the way.
Louie and Bakir, Pharmacists – your kindness is legendary, and you are an asset to your profession.
NHS – Port Colborn Hospital Site Urgent Care:
Dr. Scher – For your incredible caring and attentive bedside manner.
The Remarkable Nursing Staff:
Tim – For your ongoing support and thoughtful care coordinating the best possible placement for end-of-life care.
Heidi – For being the most wonderful human being. We have never felt so cared for and protected. It meant a lot to us that you could share in the humor, tears, and the absurdity.
Justine – we kept you running but you handled it like a champ. Thank you so much.
Rebeckah – For your excellent compassion and respect for our grief throughout the last day. To go through this process with your level of grace and kindness helped us move forward with dignity.
Melanie from housekeeping and Mary from dietary – For your incredible support of our mother and family, for not just doing your job, but for doing it with extra consideration and care for those that need your services.
George Darte Funeral Home:
Kristen - For walking us through this unfamiliar process with compassion. We Thank You.
