Obituary of Henderika Zwaantina Bodde
It is with profound sadness, that we said our final goodbye to a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend to so many. Henderika (Ricky) Bodde passed away at 2:10 am on Sunday, June 9th in her 89th year. She was surrounded by her family all week as she drifted away, comforted to the very end, until she passed on to re-join her husband Herman (predeceased in 2002). Ricky is survived by her children: Helen Pruniak, Hank (Nadine) Bodde, Herman Bodde (Kathy Maxey), Rita (Greg) Middleton; her grandchildren: Jason Pruniak, Jennifer Ciszek, Miranda Laing, Mileah Regimbald; her great grandchildren: Peyton Ciszek, Olivia Laing; and her in-law kids, Anita Bodde and Bill Pruniak. Ricky progressively suffered from Lewy Body Dementia for the past eight years and was an 18-year survivor of stage 3 Non-Hodgins Lymphoma. She had the quiet strength of ten men, masked by her beautiful & sweet nature. Ricky was born in Musselkanaal, Groningen, Holland and immigrated to Canada at the age of 18. She was the youngest of 10 children, all predeceased. She was the ultimate caretaker, always putting other’s needs ahead of her own. She made those around her laugh with her one-liners and was loved by everyone she met. Over the years she loved to travel with her husband and special friends, go for long walks with her friends, play lawn bowling in Port Dalhousie, and was actively involved in Fairview 10-pin bowling leagues. Once she could no longer pick up the ball, she became the master at wii bowling with her friends at Amica/Heatherwood retirement home.
We would like to thank the team at Shalom Manor, Grimsby – Terraceview for their amazing care and love, and who treated Ricky like close family for her five year stay with them.
