Obituary of Elsie Stella Ellison
We give thanks for the life of ELSIE STELLA ELLISON (née Formanec), born December 31, 1940 in Sudbury, Ontario, where her family played an active role in the Ukrainian community. Elsie worked in the Engineering Department with the Bell Telephone Company in Sudbury, Toronto, Hamilton and eventually, St. Catharines, where she and her husband, Gary Ellison, began raising their family. Elsie was the proud mother of sons, Randy and Stephen, who she loved deeply and devotedly. Following Gary's sudden passing in 1985, Elsie faced the unexpected task of raising her boys as a single parent, and the love they shared will remain forever. Survived also by cherished sisters, Arlene Young and Pat Wyshniowsky (nephew, Jordan, niece, Andrea). Predeceased by parents, Harry and Tillie Formanec, and brothers Bohdan and Ronald Formanec. Mom valued her many life-long friendships and particularly looked forward to celebrating her birthdays with her “girls”. A lover of music, theatre and crafts (crochet, needlepoint, calligraphy, cake decorating), she also took pride in her volunteer work at her children’s school and later with the City of St. Catharines, where she led aquatic therapy classes for those who also suffered from arthritis. Mom’s genuine warmth, infectious smiles and giggles and sense of humour will be missed by all who knew her. Special thanks to staff at Niagara Health and Niagara Gardens Retirement Manor for their care.
Arrangements entrusted to George Darte Funeral Chapel, St. Catharines. Memorial donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
