Obituary of Bill Hodson
It is with the heaviest of hearts and even greater sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear father, grandfather and patriarch of the family, William “Bill” Hodson in his 102 year with family at his side, Monday July 15 2024.
Now reunited with his beloved spouse, Joyce Hodson (nee Sharp); survived by children, William (Brenda) Hodson, Kathleen Dubanow, grandchildren, Miles, Robin, Jennifer, Amanda, Rebecca, Nicholas, Joy, Christopher, Stephanie, Wesley, Will, Jeffery and Sarena; great-grandchildren, Curtis, Brandon, Audrey, Zackary, Jeremy, Elizabeth, Charles, Fawn, William, Penelope, Jamie and Ava; daughter-in-law Anne Hodson.
Predeceased by Bill are his children, Christopher David Hodson and Susan Smith, grandchild Kelsey Rose Dubanow; his parents and outlived his two sisters, Margaret Buckley and Mabel Hewitt.
Bill was a proud Royal Air Force Pilot for many years until the war ended in 1945 and began a career as an Elevator Technician with Otis Canada after he immigrated to Canada in 1952. He was a talented and gifted man who devoted his life to the Lord. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, camping and a good ol’ hockey game. In his early years, he would challenge himself with daily crossword puzzles.
As an expression of thanks, the family wish to extend their gratitude to the nurses and staff at the Valley Park Lodge who gave exceptional care to Bill in his time with them.
In keeping with his wishes, funeral arrangements have been entrusted with the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines. A burial will take place at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to The Kidney Foundation of Canada in memory of Bill.
