Obituary of Larry Alan Pfeffer
Larry Alan Pfeffer passed away Thursday, August 29, 2024 at the age of 85, with the love of his family surrounding him. A beloved husband, father and grandfather, he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Larry grew up in Galt, Ontario, as the eldest son of Albert and Rholeen and brother to Wayne and Rona.
While working at the Beamsville Fair, Larry met the love of his life, Diane. The two married in 1965, settling in Kitchener, Ontario, where Larry worked for Dare Cookies. They welcomed daughter Lee Ann in 1971 and son Larry Jon in 1972.
The family moved to St. Catharines in 1973, when Larry began working as a salesman with J. M. Schneiders Meats. For 25 years he served the Niagara Falls and surrounding area, becoming a familiar face in the kitchens of the area’s largest restaurants.
Larry loved to hit the road with Diane on adventures to sites throughout the United States, especially Destin, Florida. He was a proud grandfather and enthusiastic spectator of his grandchildren’s sports endeavors.
Next to his family, Larry’s greatest passion was the Buffalo Bills. He was a fan for 35 years, cheering on his team every Sunday and becoming a regular at the tailgate parties at Ralph Wilson Stadium.
Larry will be deeply missed by his wife of 59 years, Diane (Andreychuk), daughter Lee Ann Schwandt (Dereck), son Larry Jon Pfeffer (Cindy), grandchildren Lauren and Jackson Schwandt and Nate and Carter Pfeffer. He will be fondly remembered by numerous extended family members and friends.
Larry was predeceased by his parents Albert and Rholeen Pfeffer, brother Wayne Pfeffer and sister Rona Pfeffer.
Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at the George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton St. in St. Catharines on Saturday, Sept. 7 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. A celebration of Larry’s life will follow on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2024 in the funeral home ceremony room. The family will greet friends at 11 a.m., and the service will begin at noon.
Immediately following the service, friends are invited to a tailgate reception, at the Neil Campbell Rowing Centre, on Henley Island in Port Dalhousie.
In lieu of flowers or donations, the family asks that you spend time doing something you are passionate about, with the people you love.
