Joseph Borg
March 27th, 1932-August 30th, 2024
Peacefully and surrounded by his beloved family, Joseph passed away on August 30th, 2024, at the age of 92.
Joseph will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Angela and children Stephen (Susan) Borg, Sandra (John) Holjak, and David (Nella) Borg. He is also survived by his adoring grandchildren Meghan and Erin, Emma and Joshua, and Michael and Luca, as well as sisters Mary and Connie and brother Harry.
Joseph is predeceased by his parents John and Joanna, brother Anthony, and sisters Teresa and Carmelina
He will also be missed by his many friends and neighbours, former colleagues and all those who were lucky enough to know him
Joseph was born in Malta and came to Canada in 1959. He worked as a skilled and accomplished pattern maker at the Brassworks and General Motors for over 30 years.
He was a master craftsmen and woodworker who made furniture and beautiful carvings that are on display in the homes of his family members and many friends. He could fix almost anything and if he didn’t have the tool for the job, he simply made one. Joseph spent many years in his impressive garden, tending to his vegetables and fruit trees and always had a bounty to share with others. He also enjoyed making wine. The job he loved the most came during his retirement, spending time with his six grandchildren and proudly celebrating their achievements.
Our family would like to extend a special thank you for the compassionate care, Joseph received from Home Care Nurses Sharlene and Lila, as well as Dr. Levesque, Dr. Qavi, Dr. Conen and Nurse Marty, and Dr. Cuthbert at the Walker Family Cancer Centre. Thank you also to nurses Emily and Maria in Nephrology, who helped make his last days comfortable.
Friends are invited to join the family at GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton Street, in St. Catharines. Visitation will take place on Friday, September 6th from 4-8 pm and a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Alfred Church on Saturday, September 7th at 10 am followed by interment at Victoria Lawn Cemetery.
