Obituary of Gerry Tesselaar
TESSELAAR, Gerardus “Gerry” passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the NHS-St. Catharines in his 98th year on Thursday, October 31 2024. Survived by his sweetheart and wife, Ali Tesselaar of 43 years; children Tom (Ria) Tesselaar, Vera Tesselaar, Nancy (Rick) Schyff, Sandy (Mark) Basher; grandchildren Rick (Crystal), Tanya, Casandra (Rob), Chantel, Kathryn (James), Mitchel, Erin; great-grandchildren Benjamin, Charlotte, Taron, Jaymes and Gavin; siblings Vera, Tini, Bets, Nel and predeceased by siblings, Jan, Wim, Piet, Arie, Cor, Riet and Willy.
Gerry was a loyal employee with TRW for over 30 years retiring at 64. Following retirement, Gerry and Ali sold their house and happily travelled through North America in their motor home for the next 30-plus years. After visiting many states and many provinces, Gerry still had time for playing cards, lawn bowling, shuffleboard, gardening and school concerts. A social butterfly at heart, Gerry made friends in every corner of the world. His heart was big and his door was always open for friends to come and ‘share a beer and peanuts’.
His family wish to extend their gratitude for the great care and compassion given to Gerry by PSW Laura and staff at Anchor Point and NHS-St. Catharines.
In keeping with Gerry’s wishes, funeral arrangements have been entrusted with the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines. Cremation has taken place and the family welcomes guests for a time of gathering on Monday, November 11th from 2-4pm in the funeral home. If desired, please consider making a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society and/or a Blood Donation in your community in memory of Gerry.
