Nicholas Delis

Obituary of Nicholas Delis

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nicholas Delis, on December 30th, 2024, in his 63rd year.

Nick was born and raised in Ottawa until he met and married the girl of his dreams, Joanne, and moved to St.Catharines over 20 years ago. In 2006, they welcomed their beautiful daughter Victoria, who was the twinkle of Nick’s eye. Nick was so proud of all her accomplishments in her 18 years, including leaving home to attend college to pursue her love of animation. He was involved in all aspects of her life, whether it was taking her skating, going to the movies, shopping, or anywhere else she wanted to go, and he would never say no to his “Vivouli.”

Nick is survived by his in laws, George, and Anastasia Koutroumanis, Potoula and Aris Stathakos, Petros Koutroumanis, and his beloved niece, Dimitra.     Nick is predeceased by his father George, his mother Vasiliki, and his sister Stavroula.

Some of Nick’s favourite memories were of his many family trips with his girls to Florida, California and New York City with the highlight being their trip to Greece this past summer after many many years away.

Nick’s fascination with cars was known by all who knew him, especially his obsession with “The ’69 Chevelle”. As a valued member of the Greek Community of St. Catharines, he was involved with the Greek Council and actively volunteered, including at the annual Niagara Greek Festivals.

Nick will be missed by many aunts, uncles, and cousins in Ottawa, Los Angeles, and Greece as well as many friends, including Angelo Tsarouchas, who were like brothers and shared their love for the Montreal Canadians.

Nick will always be remembered for helping others, his love for his girls, his love of life, his rendition of “Happy Birthday” and his jovial, infectious laugh.

Nick is resting at the George Darte Funeral Home 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 3rd, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The First Thrice Holy Hymn / Trisagio will occur at 7:30 PM at the funeral home. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 4th, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Katherines Greek Orthodox Church, 585 Niagara St, followed by interment at Victoria Lawn Cemetery.     In memory of Nick, donations can be made to St. Katharine’s Greek Orthodox Church.
