Obituary of Pavol Zelenak

Paul passed away peacefully on January 13, 2025 at age 77.  Loving father of Barbara (Brad) Jones, and Catharine (Chris) Willick. Grandfather to Maxwell and Parker, Zachary and Madison. Cherished brother, uncle, friend, with many relatives and friends in Canada and Slovakia. 

As a courageous young man, he ventured from Czechoslovakia to Austria, then came to Canada, and joined beloved family in Welland. 

He worked for the City of St. Catharines, and 38 years for the Niagara Region. During this time he also showed his entrepreneurial spirit, opening the first Mr. Sub in Welland. He was proud of his work for The United Way and CUPE 1287.  After retiring, he went back to work as an Inspector at construction sites, happily ensuring it was done right.  He was an active member of the Canadian Slovak League, Branch 31.  

Through everything life brings, he maintained a strong Faith. One of his greatest joys was his extensive gardening, as well as travelling to visit friends and family.  He loved a good joke, expressing his opinions, and being social.

We wish to express our deep gratitude to his special friends that looked out for him, helped him, and filled his life.
