MACKIE, Douglas George (1946-2013)
Sadly passed away surrounded by his family Wednesday, March 6th, 2013. Survived by his wife of 36 years Wendy (Cullen) and sons Shayne Cullen, Jeffrey (Katie), and Daniel. Predeceased by his brother Robert David Mackie (Marilyn). Grandfather to Alex, Madelyn, Quinn and Emily. He will be sadly missed by his best pal Boo Bear. Born and raised in Port Dalhousie he was well known for his love of local history. Upon retiring from the St. Catharines Standard after 22 years, Doug enjoyed selling local fresh fruit at the Avondale store on Main St. in Port Dalhousie. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements are entrusted to the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines. A celebration of Doug's life will be held at the St. Catharines Rowing Club Alumni Hall on Tuesday, March 19th from 6:30-11pm. Memorial donations to the St. Catharines Rowing Club or charity of choice would be appreciated.
