My condolences to Stella's family. I was shocked to hear of her passing. I thought about all of you including your mom since the night I had the interview. May God protect all of you and be with you at all times through these sad times. I am confident that Stella is in a better place and could not have asked for more than to be blessed in having her children to be so loving and caring for her final days.

Our prayers are with you all. Aunt Stella was a beautiful calm spirit in the room. I remember her smile more than anything else. One cannot remember the family without including thoughts of Aunt Stella. Her kindness and examples of generosity will live on. Lynne, Gary and Gail you were blessed to have had her with you for so long.

I remember Stella too
When I moved to a different high school in grade 11, I went home after the first day and told my Mom I had met a girl named Lynn Kaye. My Mom said - that must be Ivan and Stella's girl, and told me she had known Lynn's Mom and her Mom's parents from a long time before. I finished 3 years of high school with Lynn and we lived in the same residence in university. And so the two Moms re-connected because of my connection with Lynn. I remember 2 things in particular about Stella Kaye: her warm smile and her sense of humour. One day I was with Lynn and her parents at the residence when they were visiting. Lynn and I were both taking a first year English course about Chaucer's Canterbury Tales. A character in the Tales, the Wife of Bath, is described as having a gap between her two front teeth and in the age of Chaucer, this was considered a sign of a sensual and lustful woman. Stella had that gap between her teeth and Lynn teased her about it, saying Chaucer must have known something about her Mom. Stella was quite amused by the whole thing, and I thought, at that time, in the late 60's, Stella was a really good sport to laugh at Lynn's teasing. I believe Stella was a remarkable woman.

Remembering Stella
I came to know Stella and Ivan through Gail as we attended high school and university together. I remember her often carrying her little chihuahua. I remember her sharing some hairdressing and travel tips with me. I remember her generosity of spirit and her kindness and how she and Ivan often asked me to go out for dinner with them and Gail. I remember her wonderful smile, how she loved to laugh and how she approached life with calmness and patience. I remember how often her speech and manner reflected her love for Ivan and her love for and her pride in her children.

To the family and friends of Stella Kaye,
I am sure we can all agree on the following: Stella Kaye was a class act. She exuded grace, serenity, intelligence, compassion and warmth. When Stella was speaking to you, you felt like you were the only person in the room. She seemed wise; she was wise. She got life's nuances and shades of grey. As such, Stella was happiest when the people around her were just being themselves. She loved with ease which made it even easier for others to love her. I extend my heartfelt sympathy to all who held her dear in their heart. Stella, we could use more people like you in the world. I will remember you and I will smile.
With love,
Claire Duchesneau

I remember Stella
I remember Stella when she was Stella Gadula, a grown up teenager already working and living on Concord Ave. I was around 12 years old, living a few blocks away on Garnet St. I often saw her at the Polish Mass at the old Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, half a block away from my parents' house. My Italian parents were always impressed by the kindness of Stella's parents. My father and Stella's often did work for the Church together, and shared a glass or two of my father's homemade wine. Stella's mother loved growing flowers. Stella's younger sisters and brother attended St. Joseph's School with me.During World War II, my father and Stella's collected donations for families in the parish who had lost a son.
I remember when Stella and Ivan started dating and later got married. They went to New York for their honeymoon and on their return had a garden party behind the little church. Their first home was near Geneva St. and the QE way and I once saw Stella's father cutting the grass for them. Later they moved to the house in Glen Ridge and started their family. Many years later, when my oldest daughter moved to Denis Morris High School for grade 11, she met Stella and Ivan's oldest daughter, Lynn and they went through the rest of high school and university together. And a few years later, my second daughter met Gail at high school and they became friends as well. So, because of our children, we began to meet each other again in school and university related situations. Stella was a lovely woman and I am glad I knew her for such a long time.

In fond remembrance of a wonderful caring Aunt. As I started my career in 1966, uncle Ivan and Aunt Stella invited me to dinner, gave me some great advice (on making a difference in our lives), provided me with a suitcase and wished me well. I never forgot them taking the time to make a difference in my life. Our paths did not cross often in recent years, distance kept us apart. We remember how welcome she and uncle Ivan always made us feel. They put a value on family and were models for the next generation to follow. A wonderfully full long life and now a place at The Lord's table. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family members during this time. We will offer a mass for aunt Stella at our parish here in Ottawa. God bless and be with you all

I have such warm memories of Stella. She was a woman of heart, grace and charm. She was able to lighten a gathering with subtle warmth, and read tea leaves to give us fun visions of our futures. She was prod of all of her descendants. She and Ivan were so kind to Adam and me when he was young and I was a struggling snigle mom. Thank you Stella for all your gifts and enjoy your reunion with Ivan. Love, Pat Anderson
