Smelle, Annie
1927-2009
Peacefully in her sleep, Annie passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2009 at Extendicare. Annie will be profoundly missed by her beloved husband of 61 years Thomas Smelle. She was the cherished mother of Linda, Thomas Jr. and Kathy, Paul and Paula, and Marianne. Baba will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Holly (Terry) Smygwaty, Nathan Smelle (Vanessa), Stacey (Chris) Older and Ryan Smelle (Theresa). She enjoyed her great grandchildren Grayson, Hailey and Ryan. She is survived by her brother Nick Heculuck (Peggy), sisters in law Emily Heculuk (Fred), Doris Smelle (Carl), Helen Giroux, Fran and Al Lounsbury and her brother in law James Smelle. Predeceased by her sisters Mary (Alex), Victoria (Bert), Katherine (John), brothers Peter and Fred, brothers in law Paul and Carl Smelle. Auntie Annie's smile and twinkling eyes will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. Annie was a wonderful wife to Tom- supporter and fan to him throughout his hockey career and later they built a successful business (Niagara Cycle & Sports).
Annie is resting at the George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton St., until Monday at 9:30 a.m. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at the Cathedral of St. Catherine of Alexandria, on Monday, July 20, 2009 at 10:00 a.m.. Rite of Committal to follow service at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2009 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Vigil prayers will take place Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Future Walker Family Cancer Centre.
