Obituary of John Edward Daffern
Daffern, John Edward: Peacefully surrounded by his loving family after a short battle with colon cancer on Sunday October 31, 2010, in his 66th year. Beloved husband and best friend of Donna (nee: Faris). Loving father of Karen, Marc and Jennifer (Matthew). Cherished granddad of Jacob, Madelyn and Melanie. John is survived by his sister-in-law Hillary, his niece Helen (Giles), and he will be sadly missed by many friends and family. He is predeceased by his parents Fred and Flo, his brothers Roger and Peter. John was a Professional Engineer for 40 years, he was the proud owner of Paul Davis Systems Niagara for 20 years, was a member of the Royal Niagara Military Institute and a long standing member of White Oaks. He had a keen interest in wood working and enjoyed model railroading. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all the doctors and nurses at the St. Catharines General whose kindness and caring comforted John during his final days.
George Darte Funeral Chapel 585 Carlton St. St. Catharines have been entrusted with arrangements for Mr. Daffern. In keeping with his wishes cremation has taken place. Visitations will be held on Wednesday Nov 3, 2010, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday Nov 4 , 2010 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances made to the Walker Family Cancer Centre or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
