Obituary of Theodorus (Ted) Rietveld

Rietveld, Theodorus Sr. (Ted) It is with much sadness and regret that we announce the passing of husband, father, Opa and great Opa Theodorus (Ted) Rietveld Sr in his 89th year from complications of pneumonia on July 4, 2008 at St.Catharines General Hospital. Loving and caring husband of Wilhelmina for the past 65 years. Brother of Tom Rietveld of Fonthill, father of Robert (Rose) of BC, John (Bibiane) of Ottawa, Sylvia (Jim) Roach of Stevensville and Ted JR (Vicky) of Thorold. Opa will be missed by all 12 grandchildren, Tim, Shelley, Jennifer (Trevis), Kelly (Brian), Michael (Sonja), Renee (Kelly), Aimee-Jo (Ryan), Kai, Candice (Dan), Cheryl-Anne (Joe), Amanda (Paul) and Matthew, 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Ted and Wilhelmina immigrated to Canada in 1951 with their son Bob. Ted loved his family with all his being. Ted was employed at Abitibi/Fraser Paper mill retiring in 1982. Go in peace Dad. We promise to take care of Mom just as you did for the past 65 years. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the nurses and staff at the General Hospital for their care and attention of our father at this difficult time. Family, neighbours and friends are invited to visitation which will take place at George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton Street on Tuesday July 8 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Vigil Prayers will be recited on Tuesday at 3:30pm in the funeral home. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday July 9 at 11:00 am at St. Alfred's Church, 272 Vine Street. Internment to follow at Pleasantview Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Alfred's Church or the charity of your choice in Ted's memory.
