Obituary of Alfred Turnbull
Turnbull, Alfred - Following a courageous battle with cancer, on Thursday October 9, 2008 at the Hotel Dieu Shaver Hospital in his 79th year. Devoted and loving husband of Olive for 54 years. Will be sadly missed by his children Alan (Pam), Paul (Kari) and Keith (Heather). Grandfather (Grumpy) of Kaitlyn, Scott, Haley, Austin, Brittney and Brigitte. Survived by his sister Vi; sister-in-law Audrey and nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sister Edna.
Alfred was born in Northumberland, England. He served in the U.K. Army Medical Corps. He later joined the Northumberland Constabulary as a Police Officer until relocating to Canada where he continued to pursue his Policing career where he attained the rank of Chief of Police for the Town of Thorold. He later held the rank of Inspector with the Niagara Regional Police until he retired in 1988. Alfred was a member of the Myrtle Lodge in Port Robinson.
The family will receive friends at the George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton Street on Saturday October 18, 2008 to celebrate Alfred's life at 11am. Cremation has taken place. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations can be made to Wellspring Niagara.
