Dear Shelley;
Words could never express how sorry I am to hear of Kim's passing. I, along with my entire family, loved him so very, very much. Kim has been a very dear friend, and I don't know what we would have done with out his gentle care of our pets, and compassionate counsel since 1982. What we will miss the most though of course, is Kim's amazing spirit and sense of humour. May you find comfort in knowing how much he is loved by so many people, and that he will remain in our hearts forever. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Shelley.
Love always,

We met Dr. St. John when he first opened Bridgeview and we had just gotten our first puppy, Tippy. Over the years, he has taken excellent care of Tippy, who lived to be fourteen ( largely because of his expertise and care) and now, our two cats, Frankie and Polly. It was not just his knowledge (he diagnosed and successfully treated Polly when no one else was sure of the problem) and his gentle manner with the animals, but he treated everyone as a friend. He always took time to chat, always shared a few stories and took as good as he gave with the teasing. What will we do without him? He will be sorely missed and our hearts are filled with sadness. Shelley, he always spoke fondly of you and Izzie, we can't imagine how much you will miss him. We send you our heartfelt condolences and prayers and our thoughts are with you.
Sincerely, Sheila and Gary Dougan.

We will always think of Dr. St. John as a good friend, not only to our pets, but to us also. His was a gentle and compassionate spirit that invoked complete trust in his veterinary skills and his unselfish devotion to his patients. We are deeply saddened by the thought that we will no longer swap great fishing stories and daydreams of "Up North", share in corny jokes and warm bear hugs, and benefit from his genuine concern for our own wellbeing as well as the state of health of our pets. Since meeting Dr. St. John many years ago, we have never thought of him, met with him, or talked of him, without offering up a prayer of thanksgiving for him. We will miss him very much and will continue to think of him with love and gratitude, knowing we have been blessed for having known him. Our sincere condolences go to Shelley, Rose, Izzie, and all his family and friends. As grief shared is divided, so loved shared is multiplied. His was a life well-lived. Dr. St. John made friends of humans and animals easily. We were always so impressed with his clear love of his work and the extra time he would take to explain how to care for our pets, especially when they were sick. This extra touch meant the world to us. For twenty years, Jethro Bodine, Raul, Miss Canada, Bella, Max and Bobby Boucher were in his faithful care. He was an amazing professional and a wonderful person. We are certain he will be missed tremendously.

We first met Dr. Kim when he took Bridgeview over in the early eighties. He has been a large part of our lives ever since. We will never forget the times spent in his waiting room listening to his voice bellowing through the walls as he told a story, related an experience, or imparted his wisdom on his patients. The wait was well worth it, you always knew that he would devote just as much time to you and your beloved cats as he did to that fortunate dog in there. His caring was so overwhelming that one always believed it extended to oneself as well as to the animal being treated. Isabelle, we know that you will miss him so very much, and our condolences go out to you. Not only have we, but indeed the whole world has lost an invaluable lover of all animals. Not only Did Dr. Kim love his charges, but he had an innate ability to understand them. He was the original animal whisperer. After you met him, no other vet would ever do. We are selfishly asking ourselves as most certainly all of his patients are, what will Mushalya and Merlin do without this kind, gentle, knowledgeable hero? Heaven has gained another wonderful spirit, and we will mourn his loss. Our hearts go out to his family and friends.

Dear Shelley,
I have not stopped thinking about you and Kim. Please know that you are in my loving thoughts during this time. You have gathered some special memories in the years you spent together, and those are your to keep forever. May those memories bring you peace and comfort during this time.
Last night it started to snow in the great Pacific Northwest, and thats something that does not happen often in the Seattle area. As I was looking out at the night sky with the falling snowflakes I thought of a line from Shakespeare's Romeo Juliet, and it seemed fitting to me to share it with you.
and when he shall die take him and cut him out in little stars,
and he will make the face of heaven so fine that all the world
will be in love with night and pay no worship to the garish sun.
Kim is already lighting up the night sky, and may you find comfort in knowing how respected and loved he was.

Please accept my sincere condolences for Kim's passing. He was a wonderful, kind, gentle, compassionate man.
I always enjoyed taking Kassi in to see him because I knew how much she loved Kim, and we both enjoyed the time we shared with him during our visit. A visit to his clinic was always a happy time for Kassi. She would whine in anticipation whenever she heard his voice while she was in the waiting room, and I'd have to hold her back if it wasn't her turn yet... because she was bound and bent that she was going in to see Kim. I know that now she is joyously greeting him, and I also know that now she is safe and well cared for while she waits to see me again.
The world truly was a better place because Kim was here. He was an excellent vet and he took amazing care of every one of his charges. He will be sorely missed by everyone who had the opportunity to know him and spend time with him.

Dr. St. John was a part of my family of felines lives and mine for over 20 years. My cats and myself will miss him dearly. At times i do believe some of my cats would pretend to be sick so they could go and see Dr. St. John because of all the special attention they would receive.
Not only did all the cats get treated with kindness, so did I.
There are many cats that i have rescued, found homes for or kept, that no matter what the situation, Dr. St. John was understanding.
There are numerous fond memories that i have of Dr. St. John, with his humour, our conversations shared and most importantly his compassion for the care of animals.
These fond and treasured memories will remain in my heart for always.

It is with great sadness and a terrible feeling of loss that I write this. I first met Kim after purchasing the Skyway Animal Clinic about 23 years ago. Kim was one of a group of young veterinarians running the practice. It didn't take long before I realized that this charming young man with a 'bigger than life' personality was really the backbone of the practice and I approached him about the two of us doing something together. We bought Bridgeview Animal Hospital and as I had predicted, both Kim and the practice were a great success. I will miss our many phone calls, discussing business and life. I know how much he enjoyed the challenges of running the practice, the clients and the care of their pets. He often expressed to me how he found contentment and joy with his beloved wife, Shelley and the kennel that they ran together. The many trials that he faced in life only made him stronger. I will truly miss this wonderful and generous young man who was my partner.

Dear Shelley, Izzy, family and staff of Bridgeview,
I was saddened to hear of Dr. Kim's passing and my thoughts are with you both during this difficult time. I was very fortunate to have had a high-school co-op placement at Bridgeview under Dr. Kim. It was his entuhsiasm for his profession and patient teaching that hooked me on the profession; he was a very important influence and a significant reason that I am a veterinarian today. I enjoyed the time I spent at Bridgeview; I can't remember how many years I worked weekends and summers there for him. He always found the humour in any situation and taught me a lot about veterinary medicine as well as people skills. He genuinely cared for his patients and their owners and this is a quality that I try to emulate in my own practice. He always treated my family and their pets well, even after I had not worked for him for a long time, and for that I am grateful. The veterinary community has lost a bright light. He will certainly be missed by many. He did indeed make the world a better place while he was here!

My sincerest sympathy to Shelly, Dr. St. Johns family, friends, staff at Skyway and Bridgeview goes out to everyone of you for the loss of a man that touched many of our lives.
Dr. St. John had been a part of many of my pets lives and mine for over 20 years. He was a gentle, compassionate and unselfish man who dedicated his heart and soul to all animals in need of care. He treasured his family, Shelly, his dear friends, clients and patients.
He loved to share stories about his own pets, family and friends. He was a man who wasnt afraid to share or show emotions of pets that he once cherished. He had a smile larger than life that would light up a room, or ones heart.
He loved to tell jokes, and say silly things to his staff, that would have all of us in the room laughing.
Dr. St. John was a man who always held on to hope. No matter the grave prognosis of one of my pets, he would provide encouragement and a willingness to try.
He was a dear friend, who had the gift of listening and remembering. He would know that something was going on in ones life, other than the concern of ones pet.
There are two Thank You quotes below that i once shared with Dr. St. John in pertaining to him.
"Unselfish and noble actions are the most radiant pages in the biography of souls" (David Thomas)
"I would thank you from the bottom of my heart, but for you my heart has no bottom" (unknown)
I am thankful to have been given the honour to know Dr. St. John for over 20 years. A man who has touched many people and animals alike. He will be deeply missed by all whose hearts he touched.
At this time, i imagine Dr. St. John surrounded by all his cherished pets that have gone on before him. I imagine the animals and him being surrounded in laughter and joy to finally be together again.
At this time, i am remembering his larger than life smile, and all the compassion and kindness he portrayed to so many in his life.

I will never forget Dr. St. John. He was truly my idol during my childhood years and has influenced my life greatly. My earliest memory of Kim was when I was 8 or so. My mother and I would take the animals to Bridgeview, and as Kim would be "taking the animals temperature", he would ask me to watch my cat or dogs mouth, and to be sure to tell him if I could see the thermometer coming through. What a sense of humour he had. Ever since then I would drop whatever I was doing to be able to go with my mother to the hospital to see Dr. St. John. When I was 18, I was fortunate to work for Kim as a Vet Assistant for a couple of years. I still to this day, a decade later, cherish those years and have many great memories of Kim and the Staff. Dr. St. John has always treated my family and I very well. I know Kim is in a better place, and probably surround be all of his beloved family and pets that have gone before him. My deepest condolences to the St. John family, and to Izzy and the Staff at the hospital.

I first met Dr. Kim when I was just a newly married girl with my first puppy over 20 years ago. From the moment you met him you knew, you would never forget him. There was just something so special and so rare about him, not just his love for animals but his upfront honesty and genuine care. We had a beatiful Olde English Sheepdog Rufus when my children were small and not only would Dr. Kim weigh the dog, but weigh each child as well. What wonderful memories as each trip to Bridgeview was exciting and looked forward too. We are all so very fortunate for having know him and pray for peace for his family though this most difficult time.

Dear Shelley:
I really feel as though we have met because Kim always spoke of you and how much you love your French bulldogs. Yesterday I went to Bridgeview to pick up meds for my mastiff and Izzy told me of your horrific loss.
He was a very special human being. My husband and I shared his love of big dogs. Although we do not own a Rottie, I know people who have owned one of your Rotties and loved them. Kim always made us feel as though we were friends and nieghbors, not merely clients.
When our Scottie Max was ill, Kim got down on the floor to talk to him even though he was having a problem with his own hip at that time. I am currently 70 years old and have had dogs my entire life. I have never known a vet to do anything like that. About three weeks after Max was put down due to his health problems (it took me three appointments to go through with it), Kim telephoned me and talked to me about Max for about 20 minutes. I live in the U.S., so that was long distance for him. On the day Max was put down, someone called from the Bridgeview office and told me to bring a box if I wanted to bring Max home to bury him. Of course we wanted to do just that, but in the U.S. it wouldn't have been allowed due to laws etc. When I said that to Kim, he said the law is the same in Canada. Then he said, "I'm not going to tell anyone. Are you?" So thanks to him our sweet Max is in the back garden.
He was such a wonderful loving human being. I know you feel as though you have been cut in half. Just know how many people loved him and how much he loved you. He always spoke of you lovingly. The loss of such a man is immeasurable.
