Obituary of Joseph Horvath
HORVATH, Joseph
Passed away peacefully and while surrounded by his loving family on January 30th at the St. Catharines General Hospital-NHS in his 86th year.
Predeceased by his parents Anna and John Horvath, his brother John Horvath and his late wife Velma.
Loving husband of Sandra, and cherished father of Michael (Chonee) Dennis, Bruce (Angela Saleta) Horvath and Kelly (Les) Howey. Dear grandfather of Brock Howey and Reed, Cole and Fallon Dennis. Also survived by niece Joanne (Brian) Fritshaw, great niece Bryanna Fritshaw and mother in law Edith Rainey.
Joe was born in Hungary and immigrated to Canada in 1930. He was in the Royal Canadian Army and graduated from the University of Toronto as a Mechanical Engineer. He was the Superintendent at Stelco in Welland, Ontario until his retirement in 1987 and went on to establish an international consulting firm, specializing in seamless mills.
Joe was a member of the Lookout Golf and Country Club for over 50 years and was active in the Pelham Minor Hockey and Lacrosse Leagues.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a private family service at a later date.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
Joe will be missed deeply by his family, who will miss his great Sunday prime rib dinners. We will never know the reason why, nor do we have a choice of when, all we can do now is have the strong faith that we will be together again.
A Memorial Tree was planted for Joseph
