Sue: I am presently in Sault Ste. Marie, and distance prevents us from getting to St. Catharines at this time. I have so much appreciated Bruce's friendship and camaradrie at CSSRA and the Henley. For the past few years Bruce always greeted me with a collection of Port newsletters "to keep me in touch". Like so many others I will miss him so much. My prayers and sympathy for you in your loss.
Blessings

Bruce,Dad,Coach,Papa, many names to many people, in our neighbourhood he was Mr. Erskine to us while we were kids, until we thought we were grown up enough to begin calling him Bruce. I've been doing alot of reminiscing these past few days, of days long gone, but somehow feeling they were just yesterday. The days of barbecues, parties in Pete's Place, and pot luck suppers, where a quiet, gentle man would bring rounds of laughter with a joke or a prank; and the celebrations of anniversaries, birthdays, weddings and retirements where the same quiet, gentle man would bring tears to our eyes with some of his heartfelt words or an appropriate song. This is the first time we have had to say farewell to a member of our neighbourhood family and it would have been Bruce that would have the pearls of wisdom appropriate for this moment. I would like to say thank you for sharing the laughter and celebrations with our families, for the words you offered us from your heart and for believing we had truly grown into adults, worthy enough to call you Bruce, our friend.

As a young coxie over 30 years ago,I was lucky enough to be coached by a man who was not only a great rowing guy,but a father figure that I will never forget. His patience and leadership stuck with me and has helped me in my journey thus far.Bruce will be remembered and never forgotten.Although I havent seen much of the Irskin family much recently,I will always remember their kindness and generosity and share their pain today
my thoughts are with you.

Dear Susan, Harry, Susan, Kathy and all the kids,
I never took up Bruce's invitation to take a 2-4 to the top of Henley Island and "...solve all the world's problems", but knowing Bruce and being around him sure made it a lot easier to smile at all of life's little difficulties.
He'll be sadly missed but cheerfully remembered always in my heart.
Love,
Peter & Shufen
