Obituary of Lloyd Buckley

Buckley Lloyd Franklin D.V.M. (Buck) on Monday Jan 17, 2011 peacefully at his residence. Lloyd, 89 years of age, loving husband of Eileen (Ginger) for 66 years, much loved Dad of Diane and Ken Eller of Fonthill, Sharryn and Gene Oleskiw of Wainfleet, Terry Buckley and Kris Ovstaas of Toronto, Kelly Buckley and Allen Hardy of St. Catharines, beloved grandpa of Lindsay, Cameron, Jaime, Liam and Adam, dear brother of the late Dorothy Dawson of Vineland, Shirley Munro of Hamilton and the late Morton Buckley (1942) R.C.A.F. Lloyd was a proud veterinarian for over 40 years who had established Buckley and Combe Animal Hospital and later Fairview Animal Clinic and operated it in the north end until his retirement. He was a graduate of the Ontario Veterinary College ( University of Guelph ) in 1949. He was a member of Queen St. Baptist Church, Rotary Club of St. Catharines, was the former Sec/Treas. of the Niagara Peninsula Veterinary Medical Association, Ontario Veterinary Association, the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association, former member of St. Catharines and Thorold Chamber of Commerce; he enjoyed flying and was a pilot with the Royal Canadian Air Force as an instructor during WW ll. The family would like to thank RN Lynne Martin, Dr. Arvante, Rn Carma Pollock, Dr. Ken Taylor, and all the home caregivers for their kindness and compassion. The support given by VA, CCAC, Paramed and the Bayshore nurses are also greatly appreciated. Lloyd†™s friends will be received at the George Darte Funeral Chapel 585 Carlton St. on Thursday Jan 20, 2011 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. A funeral ceremony to celebrate Lloyd†™s life will be held in the funeral home on Friday Jan 21, 2011 at 11 a.m. Memorial remembrances made to the Juravinski Cancer Centre Foundation, 699 Concession Street, Hamilton, ON, L8V 5C2, the Rotary Club of St. Catharines, or the Ontario Veterinary College would be appreciated by the family.
