Obituary of Peter Brian O'Halloran
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr Peter O†™Halloran peacefully at his home in St Catharines Ontario on Sunday January 9, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 51 years Margaret, sons Harry (Pegi) and Brian (Rosemary), daughters Christine and Marion (Sam) and by 9 loving grandchildren, as well as his other family members and many friends. Peter had a long, productive and happy life, and was, to the end, full of good cheer, wisdom and fun.
He graduated as a medical doctor from the University of Glasgow, and came to Canada in 1962, where he practised until his retirement in 2001, with additional roles as chief of Emergency at the St Catharines General Hospital and as regional Coroner for more than 25 years. A true Renaissance man, golfer, healer and musician, he was an inspiration to all who knew him, never more so than during his final illness, which he faced with his customary grace, dignity and humour.
Many thanks for the wonderful support given by family and friends, and by the CCAC and associated services.
Dr. O†™Halloran is resting at George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton St., St Catharines. Visiting hours will be held from 6-9 pm on Tuesday January 11th, and the funeral Liturgy will be held at St Alfred†™s Church at 1 pm on Wednesday January 12th with cremation to follow. The family would appreciate any remembrances you wish to make in his memory to go to Save the Children Canada or to the Salvation Army.
