I am a former student from St Alfred's school. Mr. Balanowski was my home room teacher in 1963, the same year that President Kennedy was killed. I remember him as one of the few teachers with an even disposition. He rarely got angry and always managed to keep his cool and be fair to everyone. I happened to notice the obituary in the St. Catharines Standard recently while visiting my parents. I have lived in Toronto since 1977 but will never forgot my years at St. Alfred School. I wish to express my condolences to the Balanowski family.

I was deeply saddened by the news of Mr. Balanowski passing away. I meet him at Canadian Martyrs School 6years ago. He was a great grandfather and a loving person. I will miss seeing his smiling face.

I would like to express my deepest sympathy to the family of Mr. Balanowski.I knew him for a short time although long enough to know that he was a fine man. I will miss his warm, friendly smile every morning as he and his "Princess" see to it that his grandchildren board the school bus every morning.

We want to send our thoughts and prayers to you Auntie Anne, and to your family, at this sad time. I will always remember Uncle Steve for his passion for teaching, and for his curiosity and knowledge of so many topics (the first time I saw Bill Nye the Science Guy with Graeme I immediately thought of Uncle Steve!). With love from the McGinty family.

It is with great shock that I hear of Mr. Balanowski's passing. He was my grade 7 and 8 science teacher st St. Alfred's. I can see myself sitting in that classroom as if it were yestarday. He was one of those teachers that made an impact on his students. This is why I remember him so well. To his family, please accept my deepest sympathies. He was a great teacher and I know he was a great husband and father. He will be missed by all who's lives he touched.
Sincerely,
Paula Iafrate Grond
