Obituary of Rodger A. Gordon

GORDON, Rodger A. Passed away suddenly with family by his side on Thursday, August 29th, 2013. Beloved and devoted husband of 60 years to Helen. Cherished dad of Richard (Kate), Douglas (Veronica) and Heather (Malcolm) Swallow. Much adored grandpa of Jeremiah, Shea (Maryann), Joshua (Lee), Alyssa and Alexa Belle, and great-grandpa of Liam. Rodger was a graduate of St. Catharines Collegiate and attended University of Western Ontario and completed his law degree at Osgoode Hall Law School. Upon graduation in 1954, he was hired by Sullivan, Mahoney, and he ventured out on his own in 1964 and joined Lancaster, Brooks & Welch in 1996. Rodger practised law in St. Catharines for over 57 years until his retirement in 2011, enjoying a lifelong loyalty from his clients. Over the years, he was associated with many organizations including the Y.M.C.A., Kiwanis Club, Kinsmen Club and the Ontario Racing Industry Appeal Board. He was a former owner of the Moffat Inn in Niagara-on-the-Lake, and a partner in Château des Charmes wine. He will be sadly missed by everyone whose life he touched. Special thanks to all staff at the Greater Niagara General Hospital and the St. Catharines General Hospital for their round the clock care and attention. In accordance with Rodger's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or service. Arrangements are entrusted to the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
