Carolynn and I first met Joan when her son Brent was alive. He was a wonderful boy and Joan suffered tremendously when he died much too soon. But she soldiered on and with Bob's support she built a life for her family, which extended beyond her children and grandchildren to include close friends whom she adopted. We were among the favoured adoptees, and we enjoyed many happy hours at Mary Lake and in Toronto, where Joan was a vivacious hostess, an excellent chef and a well-read conversationalist. We extend our condolences to Bob, who has been a constant friend and a major influence on our lives.

Dear Family:
I am blessed, as I hope you are, by many happy memories of times with Joan.
Our first memories were of being together all of the time, like the wind or the leaves, always present to each other. Then we found our own ways as well as being together.
Joan was very kind and understanding. She reached out to many with affection and caring. Her gifted son and treasured grandchildren are a tribute to Joan and Bob.
Joan and I were gifted with wonderful brothers and sisters. Each had special memories in our lives.
Although Joan is not with us she can often be part of the conversation. I continue to learn the value of good memories that I recall from our lives. I hold them as gems of life and embrace them as a way of my understanding my own life.
My best wishes,
June.

The loss of a beautiful woman, a wife, a mother, a vibrant person - Joan will be missed by many. I will treasure the many memories I have of Joan, and hope that her family and Bob stay in my life.
She no longer has pain, has let go of earthly troubles.
May she rest in peace, knowing her legacy survives.
love,
Nancy
