Obituary of Gerald Joseph Foran

FORAN, Gerald Joseph It is with profound sadness, that we announce the passing of our beloved Dad and Papa. Gerald Joseph Foran, in his 95th year. Born in Foymount, Ontario in 1920. He was predeceased by his loving wife Dorothy (nee Hoople), his parents Bridget and Thomas Foran, and 5 brothers and 4 sisters. Much loved Dad of Deborah (Colin) Eller and Nancy (Scott) Harris and cherished Papa of Rebecca (Philip) Topa, Elizabeth Harris, Alexandra (Michael) Bunn and David Eller. Best Great Papa ever of Rylan and Carys Topa. Loving adopted Papa of Courtney and Emily Avila, and Rhys and Abigail Evans. Loving "Pops" of Darlyn, Lovelyn and John Tolintino. Also survived by his brother Stanley (Barbara) Foran. He will be sadly missed by his loving companion Bonita Bartlett and her family. Gerry was a professional firefighter with the City of St. Catharines, and retired after 38 years in 1980 with the rank of Captain. He was the longest surviving retiree from the Department. The family extends sincere thanks to Dr. Timothy Tatzel, Dr. R. Nagai, Dr. S. Rammohan, his PSW's- Norwina, Tita, Concetta and Antenor, and all others involved in the care of their Dad. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Gerry's family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Wednesday, December 3rd from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A Memorial Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, December 4th at 11:30am. There will be a family inurnment at a later date. If desired, memorial donations to Wells of Hope or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
