Obituary of Marilyn Joyce Rose, PhD (nee Russell)

Marilyn J. Rose, PhD (nee Russell) With tremendous sadness we announce that Marilyn passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at the NHS St. Catharines Hospital after an intense battle with an aggressive illness. She bore this with her customary courage and dignity, and with deep gratitude to those who cared for her so compassionately. Predeceased by beloved husband Barry (October 22, 2014). Loving and devoted mother of Jill MacPhail (Jamie) and Bryan Rose (Andrea). Adored Nana of Lauren, Aiden, and Paige MacPhail, and Brynn Rose. Cherished sister of Ted Russell (Ann), Mike Russell (Donna), Jan Souter (Tim), Doug Russell (Tracey) and Lori Russell. Marilyn had a long and distinguished career as a teacher, educator, author and administrator. A popular professor and for several years the well-respected Dean of Graduate Studies, Marilyn was dedicated to her work, her students and her colleagues at Brock University for over 35 years. Cremation has taken place. A service of remembrance and celebration will commence at 11:00 am on Friday, July 31, 2015 at the Ridley College Memorial Chapel with reception to follow at Williams Hall.
