I would like to offer my condolences to the family and friends of Rod Fraser.His passing will not go un-noticed or unfelt.As a young Union Rep, I cut my teeth working through issues, across the table from Rod.At all times,regardless of the outcome,or resolve,you knew that you were dealing with a man of character.In all occassions I found Rod to be an honest man.A man who was fair in his dealings with others,and a man of his word.Ethics and values that currently would seem to have fallen from favour. Working with Rod taught me many things.What impressed me most was the fact that he seemed to understand that his people were his greatest asset.He valued them collectivly, as well as having the ability to connect at a personal level.This was ONE of the reasons he was respected,and admired...I am so sorry to hear of his passing,,

Suzy, Cathy and Stephen;
It is with extreme sadness and grief that I write this.
I believe when a man passes through life making everyone know and feel special in his heart, that's makes "him" the special one. Rod treated everyone he met that way, thus leaving an everlasting wonderful impression on them. He was a gentle, caring and compassionate man at the same time as strong and determined to get a job done with the same charasmatic manner those of us who knew him well had been accustomed to see. His smile and his kindness could bring an angry person to reason while always remaining a true gentleman. I called it "magic". I am blessed to have had the priviledge to work closely with him but more importantly, having had him as my true friend. Bob and I got to share many special, private times with you and him. Some at your home and ours, some even more memorable like those spent at your cottage, as well as with Cathy and Stephen during their special occasions. You are a wonderful family and one I am proud to say I consider as our extended family. Rod was very special to me and will be missed more than words can express. There are only a few people in this world we can honestly say that have touched others the way Rod has. His hospital visits, the birthday greetings and the condolences when a loved one passed on. Those are only a few of the kind acts that came from Rod's heart. Always thinking of others. That's quite the imprint he's leaving us all with. I write this in the past tense but the memories will live on forever!
Sincere condolences Suzy, Cathy, Stephen and grand-children.
To his best friends Otto Penner and Roger Ireland, you are blessed to have had such a giant friend.
He will be missed by all who loved him.

I met Rod at General Motors about 8 years ago when he came to the Forge on Ontario St to be our General Supervisor. Rod was great to work for and more importantly with. He was always willing to learn new techniques and procedures. Rod was one of very few people that came into the forge environment and readily became attached to the people and the forge operations. Rod treated everyone with respect and therefore had the respect of both the salary and hourly workforce. He was indeed missed when he left the workplace for retirement. I remember talking to him at lenght about his family, he was very proud of their accomplishments. There was a Forge Christmas party one year when Rod asked if he and his wife could join in the group that I and my wife always hang around with. I readily agreed and a good time was had by all. I remember after the dance that Rod said he and his wife had never had so much fun at a General Motors Christmas party before. I attribute that to the fact that Rod was truly one of the group and not a boss.
He will be missed by all that knew him.
My sincere condolences to his family on his passing.
Alan D. Jones
