To the MacDonalds,
I am so sorry about your loss. Dean was a huge part of my life growing up on Albany Drive. The road hockey, ice hockey, soccer and football games, mostly played at the "MacDonalds" will always be great memories that I chersish deeply. Dean was a unique person, who made playing the games even more fun. I am sure you will miss him greatly.

Dino will never be forgotten by me and my 2 sons, Samuel and Olivier. The Schneiderman family will always light a candle on the day Dean passed, because he was like family. Words will never suffice to explain the loss of such a dear and close friend. We want to express our deepest sorrow to the entire Macdonald family. Dino will always be with us in spirit and through the remarkable memories of the adventures we all shared with him. Sending you love, strength and blessings during this extremely difficult time.

Sorry about Dino.
I have a digital photo of him with his Triple Crown hat on that he said he wanted people to have to remember him.
One of the times I will remember was when we went to NYC to see the last performances by The Cream at MSG, 12th row center. After one of the shows we went into a nice bar and Dino got into a conversation with one of the bartenders, who along with much of the service staff turned out to be from a small rural area in central Mexico, and looked like Mayans (though dressed in classy white shirts & black ties). The bartender then called over about 6 of his short Mexican co-worker/friends as they listen to Dean tell them stories about having visited nearby when he was there. And he knew stories from their area that many of them didn't even know about, so within seconds he had the whole gang of them laughing and cheering along, like a scene from a La Cucaracha party, but in Manhattan with all these little Mexicans jumping around this loud blonde long-haired cartoon-like character. And the next thing we know the poor little Mexicans are buying us rounds of Tequila.
Look up there, he's in heaven ....
... over by Bowies new constellation.

My most heartfelt condolences on your family's loss. My prayers and thoughts are with you at this very sad time. Our family was so happy to be your neighbours at number 3 Albany for so long. Although I have moved away, I remember fondly the sound of hockey sticks slapping on the rink Nick made for the boys and the rest of the neighborhood; the bikes in the front yard, babysitting the boys, and enjoying seeing them play hockey in the street. Most recently, I had a wonderful chat with Dean about a year ago. May the memories and the love you shared with your son and brother sustain you now and in the time ahead.
Sincerely,
Anneliese Klassen

I first met Dean and Casey through my brother Grant in 2003 who had moved out to St Catharines years earlier. Two years in a row,my 3 brothers and myself along with Dean and Casey rendezvous in Montreal on Super Bowl weekend and took in Saturday and Sunday matinee Habs games at the Bell Center. I took to Dean right away as I'm sure most people he met throughout his journey did. Also took in the 2007 Grey Cup in Toronto with Dean. I learned how to get into sporting events without paying face value for my tickets. I recall paying about $250 for my ticket from some guy at the SkyDome. Dean on the other hand waited till after kickoff and scored his Grey Cup ticket for free. When you are loaded with charisma as Dean was things seem to come to you. I last saw Dean in 2012, Dean and Grant Came to Winnipeg that September to watch the Bombers and Roughriders in the Banjo Bowl.Dino wanted to take in a game at the old Winnipeg Stadium before they tore it down that winter .My son Ronnie III , and myself had the privilege to host Dean at our house that fall. The day before the game we all took in a customer appreciation concert at the old stadium with The Watchmen and the Northern Pikes. I will never forget Dean walking up to the stage after the concert to personally thank the bands for their entertainment of rock and roll on that sunny afternoon. Ronnie III was 7 years old at the time and he treated him as if he was just another one of the guys. One afternoon we were all out and about doing some things in Winnipeg, and I said" hey where is Ronnie and Dino?" well wouldn't you know, here they come around the corner each holding big smiles and ice cream. Although we were only together a handful of times, you left me and Ronnie with great memories of a wonderful human being. To Dino's family, may your grieving be short lived, and may your love and memories live on forever :) It was a gift to have known you.

My condolences to all who had the opportunity to know Dino and to those who didn't as you missed out on a good guy. I don't think I've ever met a more eclectic, eccentric and electric guy. He wore his heart on his sleeve and a big heart he had, that mixed with his confidence and quick wit made any time spent with Dino memorable. He will definitely be missed.
