Dear Critelli family;
We were so saddened by the news of Zan's passing. We both have such fond memories of her, most of them related to our stays up north at "Tynehead". We were first time parents in Algonquin park with a sick baby and Zan instilled confidence and calm within us. She was a very wise and wonderful woman to be with. We will never forget the times that we spent together and we feel deep respect and love for her.
May your fond memories of her help ease your pain.
Sincerely Tom, Linda and family

Your mom is so a huge favorite person in my books and as I return from xmas to learn of her passing and, as I sit here in Mtl as you are all gathered at the service I pray and cry with you and so wish I was there to hug each and everyone of you. I feel a deep and profound sorrow and can only imagine how much deeper and profound Zan is to and for all of you. She is the person, mom that I hold in highest esteem and respect now, as always and forevermore.
Yours with all my love,
Suzanne.

Dear Misette and family,
What a most amazing woman your mother was of that generation preceding us.
Mrs. Critelli was possessed of not only an astoundingly stimulating intellect but also a human warmth and sensitivity which she always displayed with smiling laughter
in response to us "youngins" joking foolishly around.
I was blown away when I first met her.
I only went to the island retreat twice but her beauty and character touched me deeply AND INDELIBLY. I have never had a more inspiring canoe paddle than I had being
with her in "her canoe" on those two occasions. I was so struck by her intergenerational openness and I often reflected upon her almost as a muse- even many times from time to time to this day.
I have always regretted not keeping in touch with Zan and now it is too late. Ergo my awkward paean above.
I have lost my mother and I know what you are feeling.
All my love and sincerest condolences,
Richard Lamothe

Dear Critelli Family,
Your mother was a blessing to everyone she encountered. As her family, you have enjoyed one of God's richest blessings each day of her life as she poured her love on you and lived her life for her family. My experience of her is that she imitated God's love and reflected it in her smile and affection.
Please accept our expression of sympathy to you on the passing of your spouse, mother and grandmother.
Your Friends,
Caroline and Marcel VanRuyven

My deepest sympathies to the Critelli family.
I met your mother and father briefly in November. I am a Brock student
doing historical research on the YWCA. Coincidentally, Zan had seen an article about the YWCA and was interested in what they do. She contacted my supervisor Nancy MacIntosh and informed her that she had information about Kate Leonard and her husband Captain Leonard (there is a "Kate Leonard" community room in the YWCA). I was intrigued.
I went to see your mother and we had a lovely visit. What a pleasant and charming woman. She was a font of information that will help me greatly in my research. I am sorry that i won't get to share my final product with her,as she had questions of her own. I just found out today that she had passed and i am sincerely saddened as I was looking forward to talking more with my new friend. I wish i could have known her sooner.
If anyone in the family is interested in seeing the final history of the YWCA in the future please feel free to contact me.
I lost my father in 2000 and I understand your loss. Please accept my heartfelt condolences.

Hello Critelli Family
I was so sad to read of Zan's passing on Christmas Day. It is difficult enough with the passing of a loved one, but all the more so on such a memorable day such as Christmas; I know as my Nana passed away on that special day as well. It never is quite the same...it changes...however the love never leaves. And as each year passes, the ornaments and traditions you unpack become more joyous.
Zan contacted me late in November and wanted to share some history that she had on the YWCA. We had a wonderful conversation and my Brock University student, Bertha Power arranged an afternoon with her. Bertha is researching our history as we are marking our 85th anniversary in 2012. Bertha said that Zan was absolutely delightful and she couldn't wait until their next visit...she will be very sad to know it will not be. The history that Zan shared was all the more important as it was all verbal...how kind of her to take that time.
And thank you, Misette, for taking your time to take a tour of our shelter and for dropping off the donations from your store employees. It meant so much. I also know that you were visiting your Mom right after leaving us...precious moments.
Zan came across as very caring, loving person.I am glad for the opportunity to speak with her, if only once.
We are so sorry for your loss.
most sincerely,
Nancy McIntosh
