Obituary of Jack Johnson
Johnson, Jack Moses It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Jack at the age of 85 on Sunday March 18, 2012 surrounded by his large and loving family at The St Catharines General Hospital. Predeceased by his wife, June of 62 years (2009). Jack was born April 9, 1926 in Galt, Ontario moving to Kitchener, Ontario as a child. In 1963, Jack moved to St. Catharines with his wife June to open the Lincoln Curling Centre, later known as the The Roller Rink. Jack was a longtime business entrepreneur in St. Catharines involved in many local ventures. Jack is survived by his , son Jim (Monika) Johnson, daughters Jayna (Rob) Faragher and Jill (Rob) Foote; grandchildren Dan (Liana) Sweitzer, Jason Sweitzer, Scott Sweitzer (Adriana Luszcyk) , Kate (David) Larman, Jay (Kristen) Johnson, Jessica (Nick) McShane, Kelly Foote, Chris Foote and four great grandchildren. Predeceased by his brother Harold Johnson and Mike Simonian.
The family will receive friends at the George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton Street until Thursday at 9:30am. Visiting hours are Tuesday 7-9 pm and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Vigil prayers will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 3pm. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10am at Star of the Sea Church, 34 Elgin Street. Interment will follow the church service at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Catharines General Hospital in Jack's memory.
