John “Jack” Latcham Jewiss

It is with sad hearts the family of John “Jack” Latcham Jewiss announce his passing on January 29, 2021 at the age of 86. Jack leaves behind his sister-in-law Margaret Jewiss (nee Maloney), nieces and nephews, Greg (Diane), Ann Marie, Mike (Laura), Marc (Tracey) and Cathy (John) Lagadin, his cousin Teresa Pachereva (nee Latcham) and 14 great nieces and nephews. Jack was predeceased by his parents, John and Agnes Jewiss and his brother Greg Jewiss.

For several years Jack taught history traveling the world on U.S. Naval Ships and at Villa Maria College in Buffalo. He was an active volunteer in many charitable organizations, past officer of the Holy Name Society – Star of the Sea, The Saint Vincent de Paul Society – Star of the Sea, one of the founders of the St Patrick’s Bingo Club - Star of the Sea, Knights of Columbus 3rd degree - Star of the Sea, Knights of Columbus 4th degree, Out of the Cold - Cathedral of St. Catharines, and for over 25 years at the Niagara Warehouse of Hope.

The family would like to thank Andrea Lehal, Father Andy and all the Nurses and Doctors of 2A at Niagara Health - St. Catharines and the care givers at the Loyalist Retirement Residence for their understanding, patience, kindness, and compassion.

Due to covid restrictions a Funeral Mass will be held at a later date with interment at Victoria Lawn Cemetery, St Catharines. In lieu of flowers if you so desire, memorial donations can be made to Out of the Cold – Cathedral of St. Catharines,
