I have never known a person who’s smile and laughter could bring a room to life like hers did. She, in many way was bigger than life. The worth of a person (in my opinion) is the impact we have on other people. In this regard, I have never seen so many people that have been touched by Kathy in a positive caring way. The overwhelming heartbreak and feeling of loss by so many including myself is hard to imagine. This just shows the impact she had on so many, a true giant in a small package. You were loved by so many and will be missed greatly.
The thoughts of Helen, Aaron, Nathan and I go out to all our family and everyone that call Cathy their friend.
With Love and Sadness

Martin and family,
I'm so sorry to hear of Kathy's passing. Met her (and you) through my sister Julie in Calgary when I was just 18. I recall her whipping up dinner for about 12 of us vagabonds all missing our families and trying to find our way on our own. She made everyone welcome no matter what...and put up with a lot of our nonsense...always with patience and humour. She is a lovely soul and I'm sure that all of her children and grandchildren will carry on her kindness as they make their way through life with her physically absent. Blessings to you all!

Dear Martin, Adrian, Francis, Sarah and Tyler, kids and the whole MacIntosh and Balah family
We are sending our deepest love and condolences to each of you. Kathy meant the world to us we loved her so much. Anytime we walked in a room where the family included us in a family gathering or event she always opened her arms huge and gave us a huge smile and a tight hug, always happy to see us and have us included. I will never forget the morning of Samantha's wedding she texted me and said " now breathe, this is a proud day for you guys, everything you can possibly do is done, it's time for you to enjoy and soak up this beautiful day. Do not worry about one little thing from this moment on" she said "love you guys and cant wait to see you later"
That is the person she was, thoughtful, sincere, full of heart and honesty. She took the time to know you and care about you. I always loved her family advice especially as the kids were growing up and all the "teenage" stories, always had me in stitches!
She had a way with words and stories!
She will be forever missed and in our hearts.
Our prayers and thoughts to all of you as you go through this difficult time. Love you all xo
RIP Kathy, love you xo!!

My condolences to all the family and friends of Kathy. I first met her when I taught Tyler at CM. She was one of my favourite parents and I always enjoyed chatting with her when she dropped off lunch for Tyler and Sarah. She always made me laugh. I was lucky enough to know her as a colleague down the road at Niagara Catholic. She was always there to lend a hand and find a solution to any issue. The last time I saw Kathy was at Food Basics. We had a good long chat about our kids, our grandkids, our years at Niagara Catholic and of course our health issues. We both left laughing...that was the thing about Kathy...she was so positive and so very proud of her family. My sincere sympathy to her family...her truly amazing legacy.

There are people who come into your life and their impact is immediate and never wanes. Since 1979 Kathy was that to me. That she continues to inspire me, make me laugh and sometimes cry but never leaves me wondering what she thought about anything doesn’t surprise me. Nor does the huge void that she leaves. My heart is with you Martin, Adrian, Francis, Tyler and Sarah. May the children that you’re raising that lit up Kathy’s eyes bring you some comfort at this incredibly sad time.
With much love,
Julie Hutchison

I met Kathy through her work with CUPE at NCDSB. We clicked immediately and I delighted in her lovely voice, frank wisdom and wonderful sense of humour. Kathy was truly one in a million: her great generosity of spirit was equaled by her deep sense of justice: I learned much from Kathy and am grateful to have known her. My deepest condolences go out to her family and friends: She was a vibrant force in our lives and one that will be truly missed.

Dearest Martin, Tyler, Nicole, Cooper, and your beautiful family,
So many amazing memories made with Cathy through St. John's and St. Marks Catholic School. Keeping an eye on my 2 little ones, one shy and one who always got into mischief. Our friendship grew even stronger when you and Nicole met Tyler. The surprise on Cathy's and mine faces when we first
were introducedd at the Fundraiser by both of you was priceless. Her Love, her Laughter, her Smiles will be missed everyday and be kept alive through our words of memories, pictures, and showing her grandchildren what their Nanny was all about. Cooper will feel it everyday. With all my Blessings, Love and Sympathy, Roseanne

I first knew Kathy as the mother of Adrian, Francis, Tyler and Sarah at Canadian Martyrs. I knew then she was a wonderful, kind woman as she was raising wonderful, kind children. I then became her colleague at Niagara Catholic and came to really understand what a special, spirited woman she truly was! I am so sorry for the loss of Kathy. She was loved and respected by all.
