Sending our condolences to Aileen and the Kearney family. Rich was a very special man who you just liked to be around. He had such an incredible warmth, big smile and hearty laugh.
Having only met him on a few occasions, he made a big impact, in that he brought a bit of sunshine into our lives.

We often don’t realise as we go through life of just how much of an impact that others leave on our lives. The care, respect and love that they afford us and we just take it all on board for granted until suddenly times move on and we find ourselves in a different space. Since I first met my cousin Rich almost forty five years ago he had become an important part in the life of our family. Our earlier years of chicken wings and onion rings, the fun and stories fall into a distant memory. It took years to get Rich to Ireland and thankfully twenty years ago he made the first of several visits. It was always such a treasure to be able to keep in contact with Rich Kearney and although our contact was less frequent after he moved to Florida, he has left us with such a legacy of treasured memories. Rich was a person that put others first and he never did anything by half. If a job was worth doing it was worth doing right and he never looked into giving time to others. His often time loud presence and hearty laugh would entertain the room. We treasure our time spent in Lakeshore Drive with both Aileen and Rich. The wonderful walks through nature and his knowledge of nature and life.
He always said that when he passed that we were to celebrate his life. We have now come to that stage and while we are saddened at his passing, we are living in the present. We can be happy today and tomorrow because of what we remember with Rich in all the days before. Rich never waited until life, wasn’t hard before he decided to be happy. We are now happy for him as he finished the race and is at peace. Sleep peacefully dear cousin. Your likes will not be seen again.
Aileen, Rick, Kristin and Alex, Noel and Griffin, John and Peter and John Jnr and Candice, you are in our thoughts and prayers as you say farewell to a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and in law and to us a friend. Please accept the sympathies of your many cousins across the Atlantic whose lives have been touched and moved by a gentle giant. God’s blessing on you Rich and may you enjoy God’s peace in the bed of Heaven.
Frank and Ann
