Obituary of Donald Joseph Devine

DEVINE, Donald Joseph- Peacefully, on August 26th, 2012 at the age of 88. Beloved and adoring husband of the late Helen nee Hubbard (2001) and devoted father of Kathryn Nicholson (2005), Margaret and Brian Howe of Burlington and Donald Devine and Roger Senter of Palm Springs, CA. Proud Granddad to Stephanie Devine Howe of Ancaster and Jennifer Nicholson of Newmarket. Don is predeceased by his brothers John, James, Bernard, Alexander, Paul, Francis, Leonard, sister Catherine and survived by his sisters Helen Devine of Toronto, Mary Paterson (Ian Paterson) of Toronto and brother Raymond Devine of Thorold. Don will be sadly missed by his sisters-in-law Joan Devine, Martha Devine, Lorraine Devine, Fran Devine, Eleanor Devine and Miriam Hubbard. Don was a loving Uncle to his many Devine and Hubbard nieces and nephews. His love of family was felt by all who were entertained on the Devro at Niagara or at the countless BBQ†™s in the backyard at †œ32†�. Don enjoyed a long career and retired as Safety Director at Ontario Paper Co. A former tank commander under General Patton†™s 3rd Army, he was awarded the Bronze Star. His interest in History and Classical Music was inspired by his numerous trips to Europe with Helen. Special Thanks to Dr. Tim Tatzel and the Thorold Medical Clinic for their exceptional care. The Thorold branch of the Royal Canadian Legion will honor Don at St. Julia†™s Parish, 251 Glenridge Ave, St. Catharines, ON at 12:15pm on Thursday August 30th, this will be followed by a Memorial Mass at 1 pm. Private family Inurnment to take place in Lakeview Cemetery, Thorold. If desired, donations to the St. Catharines General Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
