Obituary of George Douglas Cookson

COOKSON, George Douglas (Doug) - With broken hearts, we want to announce the passing of Douglas George Cookson (Cookie) who passed away on July 4th, 2023 at the St. Catharines General Hospital at the age of 65. Loving father of Trey and Caleb. He was adored by his parents Carmel, and the late Henry Cookson (2022). Cherished brother of Donna (Allan), Glen (Carolyn) and the late Mark (2019). Treasured uncle of Carly (Christian) and Briar (Jordan). Doug is fondly remembered by many friends and neighbours (Danny, Sheryl, Abby, Donna, and Bob) and especially his best friend, Gary Johnson. He loved his sports: hockey, golf, baseball, and lacrosse. He was also an avid Blue Jays fan and would watch games faithfully with his mom. Doug attended Brock University for History, then changed paths as he found his liking for the skilled trade of welding and building transformers at Ferranti-Packard. Doug will always be remembered as a caring and gentle son, who patiently devoted his time to care for his parents. We are at a loss without you and our family will miss your special kindness. Rest in peace our dear father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. Until we meet again. We all love you very much. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Doug's Life will take place at a later date (October). In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
