Obituary of Johnie Joseph Thomas
It is with immense sadness we announce the tragic passing of Johnie Thomas on June 10, 2023 in his 56th year. Johnie was born August 19, 1966 in James Hill Clarendon Jamaica by Olga and Charles Nelson. He was embraced by the late Winnifred and Jasper Thomas and sister Khama on December 21, 1970 who then raised him to be the kind hearted man he was. Johnie will be forever missed by his mother Olga, sons Febian Thomas and Robbie Martin, daughters Fayann Thomas, Kayma-Lynn Martin, Jennifer Martin and Bella Mccooeye, as well as many sisters, brothers, cousins, aunts, uncles and his best fur-friends Kayne and Kilo.
At a early age Johnie had a love of working on his family farm in Jamaica and came to Canada for the first time in 1987 on the farm program. After several years working on the farms he made the decision to stay in Canada for a better life. Johnie enjoyed singing, dancing and laughing with family, friends. His sense of humor was so natural and his laughter so infectious. Johnie was a cherished friend of the caribbean community and loved sharing his talent of barbecuing the most incredible chicken. Johnie will be fondly remembered for his generous nature, compassion for others and his love of all the good things in life.
The family will receive friends at the George Darte Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 585 Carlton St., on Thursday, July 13th from 2-4 and 6-9pm. A Final Tribute for Johnie will take place on Friday, July 14 at 11am in the Ceremony Room of the funeral home. Interment at Doan's Ridge Cemetery. If so desired donation made in Johnie's memory to the Canadian Centre for Men and Families would be appreciated by his family.
