Shirley Sax Campbell

Obituary of Shirley Edith Sax Campbell

Shirley Edith Sax, 94, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2024, at her home in St Catharines, Ontario, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 29, 1929 in Owen Sound, Ontario to the late Adair and Marjorie Campbell.

Shirley was a beacon of love, warmth and resilience. Throughout her life, she touched the hearts of all who knew her with her infectious laughter, compassionate nature and unwavering kindness. Her passing leaves a void in the lives of many, but her memory will be forever cherished.

Shirley was reunited with her loving husband, Paul Sax, who preceded her in death. Together, they enjoyed 50 years of marriage filled with love, laughter and cherished memories.

In addition to her role as a caregiver, Shirley was a talented artist with a passion for painting. Her creative spirit shone through in her vibrant and expressive artwork, which will continue to inspire and bring joy to those who were fortunate enough to experience it.

Shirley was also a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She poured her heart and soul in to her family, nurturing and supporting them with boundless love and care. Her home was a place of warmth and comfort, where all were welcomed with open arms and treated like family.

For the last four years, Shirley and Paul were blessed to have Personal Support Workers that became their angels who laughed, cooked, danced, sang and cared for them. Our family is so grateful and blessed to have such heartfelt support from Careful Ways. They have become family to us.

Shirley is survived by her children, David, Peter, Doug, Kim and Kelinda and their spouses; her grandchildren Jeremy, Nikki, Kyle, Jordan, MacKenzie, India, Sierra, Alicia, Sam and Nik; her great-grandchildren Robin, Gavin, Natalie, Adalyn, John, Melody and Fox; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.

A celebration of Shirley's life will be announced in the coming weeks, giving the family an opportunity to return to the neighbourhood. Family and friends are invited to gather to honour her memory and share fond memories. Details of the celebration will be communicated at a later date.

Though Shirley may no longer be with us in person, her love, laughter and light will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were touched by her presence. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the beauty she brought in to the world.

The family requests donations to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
