Ronny, Jeff and Joey, You were so Blessed to have Uncle Ron as your Dad. He brought love into our family and I will miss his stories and playing cards with him, but I am so grateful that I had him in my life for the amount of time I was blessed with.
Uncle Ron taught me how to be a man. He taught me how to touch a man’s soul with kindness and humour. I am blessed with dozens if not hundreds of true friends solely because he taught me how to respect others and command respect.
He taught me how to be funny and how to make life’s stories funny. No matter how horrific the event he said find a way to laugh at it. If you can do this you have won. He taught me how to swim after he saved me from drowning one day at Shalimar’s. He taught me how to stick up for those that cannot defend themselves. He taught me how to tell stories, some to entertain and some to teach. I never tired of his stories and looked forward to every family event to laugh with him. At the age of 81 while dying of kidney failure he confronted a bully in front of his home by Governor Simcoe School. He explained to the young man why it was not right to pick on people smaller and then told him if he ever saw him picking on someone smaller he would show him why it is wrong. He loved to make people laugh and smile and in his path I followed. He taught me about honour and courage, traits ingrained in him due to his indigenous blood. As the owl has called his name I ask that you help extend his traditional 3 day flame by making him smile whilst continuing to make others laugh. If you are not funny by nature making someone smile by an act of kindness would honour the role he once played. If you know a card trick or two that would work too.
