Obituary of Ronald Joseph Cascanette
There was nothing he wouldn’t do for his family, and was always there to lend a helping hand. Unafraid of hard work, he dedicated 39 years of his life to Port Weller Dry Docks from 1964 until his much-deserved retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed puttering around the house, fixing and improving things; whistling all the while. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and extended family around the backyard pool. It was there that he taught his sons and grandchildren how to swim. Everyone will remember how patient he was as he waited in the pool until each child was ready to "Jump to Grandpa" from the edge of the pool. He never failed to catch them. Throughout his life, he cunningly outplayed his family in cribbage until the very end. He had a great sense of humour and frequently offered a conspiratorial wink that said "I know what you're thinking".
Ron lived a full life with his adoring family and the wonderful memories created from the numerous birthdays, baptisms, weddings and anniversaries. He will be greatly missed but those memories will last a lifetime.
Ron's family will receive guests at George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines, Ontario, L2M 4Y1, 905-937-4444 on Wednesday May 1st from 11 am-1 pm with a funeral to be held in the chapel at 1 pm. Burial to follow at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens.
